Jeff Bridges (Blown Away), Rosanna Arquette (Desperately Seeking Susan) and Andy Garcia (Things to Do in Denver When You re Dead) send sparks flying in this electrifying journey into the world of high-priced call girls and million-dollar drug deals. Matt Scudder (Bridges) is an ex-cop with a drinking problem who free-lances on jobs other ex-cops won t touch. When he accepts a fat fee to help a hooker get free of her pimp, Scudder lands in the middle of a savage drug and prostitution ring and given his past failures, there s no guarantee he ll get out alive. 8 Million Ways to Die is a powerful story of personal crisis and riveting police thrillers that will hold you spellbound and leave you breathless. This was the final film credit for the great Hal Ashby (Coming Home, Shampoo) screenplay by Oliver Stone (Scarface) and R. Lance Hill (Road House) under pseudonym David Lee Henry and based on the book by Lawrence Block (A Walk Among the Tombstones). Co-starring Alexandra Paul (Christine) and Randy Brooks (Reservoir Dogs).

Great Sleeper Thriller that deserves massive critical revision
Great Thriller - Appallingly underrated by Rot Toms & other critics....spontaneously accented performances from Bridges, Arquette & Garcia, developed via improvisation ---- Hal Ashby's last film with unexpected naturalistic mise en scene staging --- plays in a believable way few genre thrillers play..... how this film could get such bad PR & be so good boggles me.....the new Lorber Blu Ray is entertainly package with good commentary & new interviews....there is nothing 'forumla feeling' about this modern noir..... Bridges always effective & wholly believable.....Roseanna Arquette in one of her top star characterisations.......Garcia in his first major role...it's marvelous the amount of underplay & subtle shifts that require attention to undertand what's going on.....one of the best of the 1980s......

2AM Movie
This is one of my favorite 'cult' films of all time! It's one of those 2AM movies (those movies that come on cable at about 2AM when you've just got in from 'clubbing'...you say you're only gonna watch a few minutes and you wind up watching it all)...a very underrated movie with an excellent cast (Jeff Bridges, Rosanna Arquette, a very 'young' Andy Garcia and Tiny "Deebo" Lister! I've been trying to buy this movie for over 30 years and I finally got it!

Release this movie on DVD already!
It never ceases to amaze me about how many good movies are only on VHS while crappy films get Blu-ray treatment. 8 Million Ways To Die got poor reviews but it was actually pretty good.Jeff Bridges plays Matthew Scudder, a burned out cop whose life goes to shambles after a raid goes wrong. Things in his life dont get any better when he meets a prostitute called Sunny(Alexandra Paul). Sunny ends up getting murdered and Matthew tries to solve the murder.Sure the character development is scant and some of the lines in this movie are howlers(like Sunny exclaiming which part of her anatomy glows in the dark) but the movie is not bad. Jeff Bridges shines as Matthew Scudder and Andy Garcia plays the scummy character of Angel Moldonado well. Rosanna Arquette is pretty good also as the smarmy and snobbish Sarah. These are the performances that keep the movie afloat. Its kind of sad that this underrated drama never got a DVD release. Its like depriving people of seeing a movie that deserves a look of seeing it while shoving crappy films(like anything from Seltzer and Freidberg) down their throats. If you're in the mood for a good drama with a good story and solid acting you cant go wrong with 8 Million Ways To Die.

8 million Ways to Die
I bought this Movie for a Friend that said it was Great. The last time we looked on here some place wanted $499.00 for it so it better be Good! Have not received it yet so I can't say if it is worth it! Buyers beware! This DVD is for Region Code 2 and will not play on a made for U.S.A DVD Player. It would be nice if the seller would have put this in the product description. Now I'm having to go through the hassle of trying to get my money back.

Better than Previous Releases but Still Sub-Par Picture and Sound
The best this 1986 release has looked on video, but not by much.Clearly from a damaged print, not the orginal negative. And monaural sound, as with all previous releases.Where is the original Dolby Stereo mix?We know it exists so maybe no one tried very hard to find it.Best is contemporary interviews with actors, including Alexandra Paul. Despite playing a dumb hooker, she is quite articulate and still looks fantastic. Obviously no commentary from long-dead director Ashby. In its place is a snoozy intellectual rant that doesn’t even track with individual scenes.

Sleeper Movie
This is a terrific movie! The story involves cocaine coming into this country in a unique fashion. Jeff Bridges, a burned out, alcoholic ex cop gets a scent of the trail; it involves Rosanna Arquette, a strung out beauty controlled by Andy Garcia, in his first big movie part. Garcia's mannerisms and his ruthlessness are spellbinding. The narrative is very good and the actors, all of them, make this movie happen. See it. I have seen it twice, and I also bought it to have so I can see it again.
