The Motorola LS4208-SR20007ZZR Symbol handheld barcode reader is black and can be used to scan and decode linear one-dimensional (1D) and GS1 DataBar barcodes. A 650-nanometer (nm) laser produces lines of light in a raster pattern that can scan small or low-quality barcodes from different positions, and that can read a standard Universal Product Code (UPC) from up to 19" away. Motion tolerance helps limit errors while scanning and allows the user to scan objects while moving. A cable (sold separately) and on-board interfaces can be used to connect the barcode reader to a computer or host system to transmit barcode data. The barcode reader contains a single circuit board to reduce points of failure. Motorola Remote Scanner Management software (available separately for download) can be used by an administrator to manage the device remotely. This product weighs 6.4 oz. and measures 6.7 x 2.7 x 3.7 inches (H x W x D). (H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.) It can withstand drops of up to 6' on a concrete floor. This product is compatible with Checkpoint Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) deactivation systems for use in a retail store. A stand (sold separately) enables the barcode reader to be used in a fixed position.Barcode scanners, also known as barcode readers, can be used to scan and decode barcodes and to transmit barcode data to a computer or another host system. Barcode readers with a single-line laser can be used to scan linear, one-dimensional (1D) barcodes. Some lasers can produce light in an omnidirectional pattern to allow scanning of barcodes from different angles. Other barcode readers contain CCD (charge-coupled device) light sensors instead of a laser for accuracy and wear resistance. Barcode scanners with raster scanning, area imaging, and other scanning technologies can allow scanning of two-dimensional (2D) or Portable Document Format 417 (PDF417) barcodes, among other types. Some barcode readers provide onboard flash memory to allow the storage of barcode data before transmitting it to a computer or host system through a USB cable or wireless WLAN or Bluetooth connection. Many barcode readers have a handle for handheld use and come with a stand or a charging cradle for fixed position applications, while others are designed for stationary use on a counter or another flat surface. Some portable readers are small enough to be carried in a pocket or attached to a lanyard. Barcode readers are used at retail checkout counters and other points of sale (POS) locations and in warehouses and shipping facilities.Motorola Solutions manufacturers mobile computing devices, radios, tables, and data capture devices such as barcode scanners and RFID products. The company, founded in 1928, is headquartered in Schaumburg, IL.

Very good, general-purpose barcode scanner.
Very good for a general-purpose barcode scanner and seems to be a good deal for the money.

Broke without Manufacturer warranty
Be careful, the serial number sticker was pealed off the bottom of the scanner so the manufacturer wouldn't help me fix this scanner. Might have been used or something before I purchased it.
