Good quality, kinda huge lmao
Note: I opted to buy the paperback version.I bought my own copy so I can write in my own notes for class, I bought the paperback and it’s super huge and heavy! The book is ~two inches thick because of it’s ~1,000 pages. It’s definitely something you should keep at home to study with. It’s not really a downside but more of a grim reminder that I have to do so much math to meet my program requirements.Aside from the shocking size and weight, it is a good textbook. The pages are perfect to write on. You can faintly see the color on the other side when written on but it’s nothing that really bothers me, personally. Pages are bound quite well, corners only a little smushed from delivery but it was a used version.TLDR: Overall decent quality but really big and heavy.

It works
When I received the book it was slightly damaged on the cover but otherwise I had no issues and it was an excellent price for a college textbook

Excellent pedagogy with some flaws that may detract from independent learning
I D/L'd the free book with the intention of purchasing the paper cover version if it appeared good. While I agree with many of the excellent reviews, I would like to point out two serious flaws.1. I have not gone through much of the book yet, but the very first problem I sampled (Chapter 3, Review Exercises, Problem 7) has the wrong answer on their website (see attached photo). Even not being a math wiz, I am quite sure that the Quadratic Standard Form for f(x) = x^2 - 4x - 5 is not (x-2)^2. This makes me wonder just how many errors there are in this book.2. On their website (answers are not in the back of the book), answers are provided only for odd-numbered problems. I suppose this is for quiz purposes and that there must exist a teacher's manual, but for someone who purchases the book with the intent to learn or review the subject independently, this merely detracts from the other content and adds a great deal of useless bulk. A related issue is that, despite the excellent examples of practical application (they are really quite good), I wonder if the book is somewhat overkill. At what point does exceeding the sufficient amount of information detract from that which is necessary? The size is somewhat daunting.I consider these two issues sufficient to make one skeptical about the value of this book for independent learning, and thus must tentatively give it just 3 stars. I posted this review now because I wanted to point them out. Perhaps someone else has noticed similar issues.

Excellent comprehensive treatment of the subject
I've taught precalculus, and writen an online textbook of my own, so when this was a free Kindle book of the day I grabbed it out of curiosity to see what they did with the subject.Trying to put myself in the student's place, I think this would be good for students, both for self study (if anyone does that any more) and for review or as a supplement to a regular textbook. I haven't noticed any significant omissions. The writing style is clear and straightforward -- I know from writing my own textbooks how hard that is to do.They have many, many step-by-step procedures, and often a short section of frequently asked questions after introducing a topic. There are tons of worked examples, in addition to practice problems and sample tests.Editing is generally good -- not perfect, but I'd give it an A minus. One change I'd make is to link from practice problems to the answers, and ditto for the practice tests. Some sort of split screen, if that's possible on the Kindle, would be ideal. But that's a minor point

comprehensive, excellent, very fair price
The 4 volume calculus books (precalculus/calculus I/Calculus II and calculus III) are the most comprehensive books that is written on calculus. The explanations are very vivid and there are plenty of example exercises in these booksI could not wait till get them and Now I have read some chapters from each volume. It is so comprehensive that going to take time to finish these series. These books certainly can be used as the textbook and reference. It has special place on my library. I think any mathematics enthusiast should have all 4 volumes. By the way the priced is excellent for the comprehensive books you receive. Its almost one fourth of price of some of those textbooks that are used in universities.

Super reference
Outstanding book. I know it is free online and I worked with it online. Finally purchased the book in softcover. Tremendous reference. I really like the examples and questions that show you how to use knowledge. I supplement thi with online classes and tutorials but when I get stuck this is how I figure out how to move on. I am sure not all this information is needed in precalc but I am glad I will have the text for future reference as well. I am an adult learner getting ready for college level calc

Very good OER PreCalculus textbook
I bought the hardcopy of this OER PreCalculus textbook for use with my dual-enrollment college PreCalculus class at a local high school. My students will use the free online version on their iPads, and they are also able to download an app to their smart phones. This textbook is as good as or better than the two and three hundred dollar big name books.
