Dr. Martens 85 ml Wonder Balsam

I’ve been using the Dr. Martens Wonder Balsam on several pairs of leather boots and I’m really impressed with how well it works. It noticeably improves the look of the leather by bringing out a richer, deeper color, without making it too shiny. The functionality is spot-on—it softens stiff leather, adds a subtle waterproof layer, and helps prevent cracking. The build quality of the balm itself feels premium, and the tin is compact but lasts longer than expected. After applying it, the leather feels much softer and more supple, and the boots look refreshed without losing their rugged charm. A must-have if you want to preserve both the look and durability of your leather footwear.

I use it for restoring, conditioning, and protecting leather products, particularly leather shoes. It softens and revives old, dry, or scuffed leather. Its blend of coconut oil, lanolin, and beeswax provides water protection and goes a long way.

This stuff is like a miracle balm on leather and lasts forever. Easy to use with a small sponge and restores scratched leather to new looking. Great protector too. Way better than shoe polish.

So. I’m being extremely generous with 5 stars right now because I’m having full faith that this stuff is going to be amazing and bring my husbands boots back to life. That said, this canister is small!!! And only half full .. I read the other reviews prior to ordering.. but wow! I wasn’t expecting it to be this small.. $12 is $12.. if it works, money well spent to revive his $150 boots.. if it doesn’t - well.. lesson learned and $12 lost. I’ll update after he uses to provide how amazing it is ;)

I bought my first pair of Dr. Martens soon after my first real job. I’ve been using the Wonder Balsam since. Although I’ve been had any issues breaking in my boots or shoes I wanted to make sure they lasted as long as possible. The wonder balsam helped me keep them looking good for a long time. I eventually bought more docs throughout the years (my feet grew after childbirth) this has been my go to project. I use them on my leather handbags & even my Ugg boots. I find that it’s best to use once a month if you’re wearing your boots more than a few times a week & my leather handbags at least every 6 months depending on how often you change your bags. Just wait a day or two after treating your bags. I have vintage handbags that are still in perfect condition thanks to this balm. Oh, I almost forgot. It has little to no smell. I highly recommend that you never go without this, but remember that it doesn’t go bad if by chance you slack off on your shoe & handbag treatments. This is a must for any shoe lover. Yes...as we do use this product for Dr. Martens but ALSO use it for my closet full of COACH, Chanel and other random selection of purses/handbags. I have been using this product for 15 years and it will bring any piece of leather back to life. It also protects, softens...beautifies! I have found second hand, retro, vintage handbags that needed a little TLC and I simply rub a bit of my 'hidden secret' to them and suddenly they are the hit of the party. It will take a dull, lifeless item and breath life back into it...literally. The photos are of a Coach purse I found at a local thrift store that was pretty worn until I cleaned it up a bit and used the balm on. It is not even a leather material and it still had an amazing result. Women...buy this product you will not regret it. It will not only bring your items back to life but you will be the hit of the party!

This provided excellent coverage to smooth and polish my old Ariat mules. Photos show before (left shoe) and after, then both shoes treated. The shoe on the right has significant cracks and wear, but this product filled them in to some extent and improved the appearance. My only negative comment would be about the packaging. The tin of this was delivered in a very big box, no packing material around it. A much smaller box could have been used. The tin was a bit dented on top, and in a few tiny places the paint on the top was scuffed off. The date stamp on the side is from 2022, 3 years ago. Odd. In any case, the product works great, so I am satisfied, just a bit mystified.

Honestly, I didn’t even know I was supposed to condition my Dr. Marten boots every month. I only discovered this product as I was getting ready for another Canadian winter and remembered my boots weren’t looking or functioning as good as the day I bought them—which was sometime in the 2010s. Only thing I have to say is that it does what you expect! I followed the video procedure of coating my boots from the official Dr. Marten’s website, but bought the product directly from Amazon since I couldn’t be bothered to purchase a big order just for free shipping when I only intended to try this product. I know other reviews have stated that there could be more product if not for the sponge taking up half the container, which I do agree could be packaged differently to give customers more product for their money. However, I used a generous amount on my boots and I’m pretty sure it barely made a dent. Take it with a grain of salt, I only used this once and haven’t yet needed to re-apply the coating per the 1-month recommendation. Either way, it would be nice to have more for something we’d have to use frequently. I did note that the sponge applicator was a bit difficult to grasp (with gloves) while rubbing it on the boots since it’s a bit small, but I think any old kitchen or thick sponge can do just as well with a bit more elbow grease. Aside from the quantity, I’m happy to say that it really did revive the old and parched leather. I hadn’t noticed how matte the leather became until I saw the side-by-side comparison!! I guess that’s why I began having issues with my boots no longer being as weather-proof, since there was no barrier between the water/snow/salt. I considered purchasing new boots to replace these ones but quickly realized that all it needed was some TLC with the Wonder Balsam. Glad to have made my purchase, and will be relying on this to keep my boots going for many more years to come.

Lo compré después del primer uso que le dí a un par de dr martens nuevas. Antes del bálsamo las botas eran sumamente duras e incómodas, después de ponerles bálsamo se hicieron más suaves y nunca más volvieron a doler. Ayudan a conservar la piel y les da una estética de nuevas, me gusta que no cambie su aspecto.
