Love this phone
I wanted a phone that I could admin the phone book on my PC rather than typing it all manually on the unit, then have to copy phone books to the other handsets. I picked this one because it seemed to be one of the few that offered this feature.I love this phone. Smaller than expected. Premium quality feel to it. Clear, bright screen and sound. Battery similar to mobile phones. As it's expensive and I needed 4 handsets, I checked out the compatibility section on the gigaset site and bought three cheap, refurb C430H handsets which work great with the main SL450 base. When making a call I noticed I'm offered a list of the lines to dial out on, only the landline in my case, so I'm assuming that if you also have it connected to a VOIP service then there will be more than one entry in this list.If you use it solely with a landline it's fiddly to set up the phone's contact list . In this case you need to use bluetooth for communication between pc and phone, install a gigaset interface application on the pc so that a contact list from (say) google can be synchronised between google account and your phone.I don't use VOIP (I already have to pay line rental, so why double up?) but have it connected to my network in addition to the landline. This dual connection option wasn't clearly indicated in sales blurb and I thought I'd need to choose one or the other. I was wrong, we can have both :)Being attached to the network (via Home plug network) opens up more convenience. Suddenly the weather in exotic locations appeared as a screen saver. I was able to switch the location to somewhere closer and colder :)Once on the network (after the base station updated it's own firmware automatically) I was able to connect to the base using a local network web interface. It was so easily found too, I didn't need to faff around finding the IP address to talk to it, just clicked on a link on gigaset.net. I could then set up several options on each unit to save the family getting confused. They all get their own Biorhythms as screen savers, or you can pick horoscopes, pictures or even nothing! There's several other fun conveniences on there including news feed and linking to Ebay, but I've not had chance to play with those yet.Phone lists being my main criteria, Ive installed an app on my mobile to synch contact lists. I assume I may continue to need to use the bluetooth to synch with google, but (again) I've not had chance to play yet.One question I would like answering is that if I decided to dump the current landline phone number and switch to VOIP, can a VOIP line be protected from being used by anybody else in the household except me?(Truecall: I have a Truecall account. I disabled the call barring functions of the Gigaset system. I plugged the Gigaset base into the Truecall box and it all seems to be working as normal.)The only annoyance, so far, which may be due to being a noob, is that if you're deep in the settings submenus it appears that we have to keep pressing the back button to escape out. It would have been nice if there had been a quick escape option offered by pressing the red disconnect button instead. That button seems to do nothing in menus and is therefore a waste of a decent potential feature.

Feature rich but let down by not so great build quality
Not a bad product which is well made and has plenty of features. Has the facility to sync it up to your PC which is quite useful and you can also change the background so you can have your own branding if its a work phone. Product is lightweight and slim, though the build quality is okay rather than excellent (feels a bit cheap). Ring tone is not very loud and the built in ringtones are incredibly annoying (think 2004 nokia type tones)

Great phone
Very happy, loads of features and dead easy to setup with my sipgate account. Phone is massive upgrade to my old phones and quality of audio is excellent.

Had presumed the base station was a speaker to and given the size it would be perfect for conference calls
Was hoping the loud speaker would be louder, not really what I was after. Had presumed the base station was a speaker to and given the size it would be perfect for conference calls, sadly not.
