Razer Raiju Ultimate (2019) - Wireless and Wired Gaming Controller for PS4 & PC (Mecha Tactile Action Buttons, Interchangeable Parts, Quick Control Panel, RGB Chroma) Black

I bought this for an improved and better gaming experience for first person shooter games. With the standard Dual Shock 4's button layout and the number of buttons or lack of means that you have to take your right thumb off the control stick to press any of the 4 buttons. With the 4 extra assignable buttons on the Raiju means that your thumbs stay on the sticks so that you can perform complex moves such simultaneously jumping and turning whilst firing or reloading or changing weapons. This can grant you an edge in PVP aswell as PVE scenarios. Prior to purchasing I was aware of the drift issue that people have had with this controller which I have not experienced. This controller came with the latest 1.05 firmware update pre-installed which is good news although relatively easy to update. It has 4 pre-set configurations for different types of game play which are easily switchable by a specific button, these are customisable using the phone app if needed. The controller has a high quality feel to it the buttons have great feel, it has a more grip than a DS4 especially when gameplay gets hectic and your hands begin to sweat. It is bigger/bulkier and heavier than the DS4 and rightly so to have the functionality, once you get use to using the extra buttons and improvement in gameplay it becomes less noticeable. Very IMPORTANT note, to be able to use a headset the controller can't be used in wireless mode. You have to use the Supplied Micro USB cable and set the controller to USB mode. I have noticed that this is a custom made cable as a regular micro usb cable does not fit due to the recess for the plug and more importantly the offset position of the plug in comparison to a standard one. The feel of the controller is great, the functionality is excellent, importantly for me gameplay has improved. With the current price this is the best controller in terms of function and quality. Highly recommended.

First of all, I'd like to say I tried a fully modified Scuf Controller first and was happy with it (till it broke) and upon replacing it with the Raiju Ultimate I realised just how poor the Scuf build was in relation. The Raiju's build quality is simply stunning, from the magnetically locating sticks and D-pad, under triggers and two extra front buttons to the side off the L1/2, R1/2 buttons which can be extremely useful additions and intuitive to press. Even the case it comes with is a nice touch with slots for the interchangeable sticks and alternate D-pad. The only thing they could have done to improve this would have been a hole through the front at the charging port to make it possible to charge the controller while in it's case, but hey, nothing's perfect. The triggers locks are spot on with a simple sliding switch to enable/disable the locks either mid play or on game changes without any fuss or messing around. Also for those of you who play Destiny, with the trigger locks turned on for instant aiming and/or firing at the slightest touch, the Sparrow still travels at full speed and breaks for corners unlike on the Scuf controller. The Raiju app makes tailoring the button layout incredibly easy and the different saveable layout profiles for different games is a great idea. As for the reported issues of lag, random veering etc that also had me concerned before purchasing, I have seen absolutely no evidence of this at all and have found the controller very responsive and accurate at all times and I've already spent hundreds of hours on Destiny 2 since I bought the controller. As per Razers instruction's I did update the Raiju firmware to version 1.05 immediately upon it's arrival as this was very important to eliminate any known issue's. Now for the BAD!!! I did say it was flawed in the title. I use the controller wireless unless on charge and half the time when I turn my PS4 Pro on using the Raiju it loses the connection and the controller turns off. It's a simple fix, I use my original sony controller to forget the Raiju from the list of bluetooth devices then put the Raiju into pairing mode and select the Raiju from the newly refreshed bluetooth list and it reconnects whilst turning off the sony one and from then is fine again for a few days of playing till it happens again. As you can imagine, it is incredibly frustrating to have to do this on what is pretty much one of, if not THE premiere PS4 controller out there with a price tag to match. I think when using a wired connection this doesn't happen but personally, I wanted a wireless controller because I don't want a cable between me and the PS4 having kids, pets and yes, a wife, who insists on passing in front of me every 5 minutes and then acts like tripping or almost ripping the controller from my hand or worse, the cable from the PS4 is somehow MY fault for having a cable across the floor. Overall, a beautifully built and ingenious controller that's easy to setup and change for different games, works great but can be infuriating to use via bluetooth, though I'm prepared to put up with that for the benefit's it brings. I'd definitely buy another one.

Ok, so I wanted a decent "elite" style controller for my PC to match my keyboard and RGB setup that will last a while. I was worried about the reviews, most were positive but a few mentioning issues with drifting. I have had 0 issues so far, updated the driver via the Razer website. Simple plug and play. Controller itself is sturdy, buttons feel nice and it's comfortable to hold. Excellent cable quality, and premium case to hold it in. This controller is worth it on a sale, in my opinion still not worth £160+ price tag. If you can get it just over £100+ then I'd say it's a decent snatch. I'm happy with it, I play alot of single player games. Still need to dabble with the extra buttons to use it at it's full potential. 9/10 controller!

Razer products can be hit or miss: either they are excellent despite their price point, like the Nari Ultimate or Raptor Monitor, or they are absolutely terrible for the money, like this Raiju Ultimate controller. My experience with this controller is as follows: I open the box, and see a premium looking controller case with some spare thumbsticks, a d-pad and the controller. The controller is a heavy, soft-touch premium feeling controller adorned with extra shoulder triggers and rear paddles. The thumbsticks glide really nicely and the buttons have a good tactile click to them. The Dpad has very little travel and doesn’t feel nice to press, so I swap it out for the rolling Dpad and it’s a little better, but not by much. I plug the controller in to my PC per the instructions, flick the switch to USB mode and see the chroma lights turn on. Multi-zone colouring, nice. To my surprise the controller isn’t detected by Synapse like with my other Razer gear. Strange I thought, but a quick Google reveals this isn’t supported by Synapse - chroma and profile configuration have to be handled by a phone app, which is annoying but not a deal breaker. No Custom effects via Chroma Studio though, which is disappointing. I attempt to update the firmware on the controller to the fabled 1.05 patch but I’m notified the controller is already up to date, one less job to worry about. I leave the controller on charge for an hour, come back and disconnect it from the USB, flick the switch to PC BT mode, sit on my sofa and put it in pairing mode (option+PS button). Nothing, controller lights flash but Windows Bt options can’t detect the controller. I flick over to PS4 BT mode and put it in pairing mode (share+PS Button) and Windows sees the controller straight away. I select and pair. Controller lights turn chroma and steam BPM is accepting inputs… for 30 seconds. Then the controller turns itself off. I attempt again, and again. And each time I have to repair (not just switch the controller on) and watch as the controller switches itself off again. There’s plenty of charge in the controller, and I find that if it’s in PS4 BT mode but not connected to a real PS4 the controller just decides it doesn’t want you to use it. Why Razer? Windows and Steam are compatible with DS4’s and Dualsense controllers? Why is PC Bluetooth a separate thing? So I try PC BT mode again. And again. And again. Until finally Windows finds the controller for a brief second. I realise I’m getting annoyed and I’ve sat forward by this point - so for some reason in PC BT mode the range of the controller is reduced. So I move closer to the PC and, holy crap, the controller connects. I boot up BPM and test it out, a couple of dpad clicks are missed but I thought maybe it was just a fluke and boot up Mortal Kombat 11. I get in to the main menu and after going through a menu or two the controller stops responding. I can press the PS button and get the steam overlay to appear, but no inputs are working in game. I navigate to exit the game, then steam crashes. I can’t reboot steam. I disconnect the controller and attempt to relaunch, Steam relaunches. I boot up MK11 again but this time the controller works, still missing the odd dpad click. I get in to an AI versus match and get decimated, as each button press I make results in a half-second delay before Scorpion actually does anything. I move down my corner sofa closer to my PC and the lag alleviates, I’m sat about 3 foot away from my PC now. I turn the game off, reboot the PC and move the BT adapter to the front of my PC rather than the back. Turn the controller on and Windows can’t find it. I attempt to re-pair and it can’t be seen, even though I’m now sat closer than I have ever been. I switch to PS4 mode - found immediately and connects immediately, but then turns itself off after 30 seconds. I reboot the PC again. This time I plug the controller in to the PC in usb mode, take it back out then put it in PC BT mode. It’s found in Windows, but the controller is on top of my PC. I move back to my seat 3 feet away and the controller still shows connected with the chroma light, but no inputs are translating to my PC. I walk back to my PC and the controller starts working again with a little lag. I boot up MK11 while I’m stood next to my PC, then the controller switches itself off and Steam crashes. I switch my PC back on again and find the controller will only work if I’m practically sat on my PC case. I box the controller up and start my return on Amazon. This is not what you expect from a £170 controller (yes! The price dropped by £20 the day after I ordered the damn thing!). I ordered this as I was sick of having to charge my dualsense every 5 minutes due to the pathetic battery life and I wanted a controller with mappable paddles, but steered away from the Xbox elite controller due to drift issues and a Dpad that isn’t great for fighting games, but this Raiju Ultimate is terrible. I heard they’d sorted the issue from the 2018 version with this one but outside of the build quality this controller is the epitome of Razer Tax: an inferior-mediocre product that gets a hefty price tag because of the logo. Stay clear, it feels nice to hold but with its problems this is an absolute ripoff.

Going from a scuf controller to this was hard. The quality is better for sure, but it’s heavy and takes time to get used to. You can turn the ps4 on with this but then it will not register the controller after. I spoke to razer support about this, basically you have to turn the ps4 on by hand. Bluetooth mode is hit and miss, it will bug out in the end and make you go wired in usb. When wired I’ve had no trouble yet with stick drift etc, it’s a joy to use once your used to it. The app I’ve had no real problems with and the rgb lighting is fun if that’s your thing. I guess if your a pro gamer and wired is your way and you get it at discount then it’s happy days, but it does have its flaws and at full price not worth it. Hope this helps 👍

This controller is fantastic. I used it for playing Apex Legends. However, I wish I had listened to the reviewers stating issues with stick drift. Two weeks after purchasing this product the right stick began to drift and lag, I tried updating the firmware and resetting using rhe android app with no luck. Had this issue not occurred I would have been incredibly happy with this product, especially having bought it for £74 used, would have been an absolute bargain. It's a real shame. I have started the returns process and I will go back to using a dualshock 4

needed a new controller because i had so many issues with standard dualshock 4 controllers, feels good in hand with great grip, all the extra buttons work on well and easy to change what the buttons are mapped to with the app on my phone. has the occasional stick drift but it usually stops after i unplug the controller and re connect. mainly been playing with the controller wired but the battery life seems fine. it’s cool how you can have different button presets for each game that you play and also being able to dim the lights or change the effects on the controller is also a plus. would recommend if you’re fed up with dualshock 4s like i was. it’s pricey but with having to buy the normal controllers so much you’re basically saving money buying this

The reason I bought this controller was need, its currently impossible to buy an official Sony Ps4 Controller, already tried refurbished and it was terrible. I'd read alot of reviews on this controller as the price was quite high but when my last working contoller died i was left with fewer choices so decided to give it a go (thanks to a cheeky warehouse deal). Some of the concerns id heard were, poor responsiveness, 'M' buttons (on the back and top) were too easy to press and the controller would not connect to accompanying app. Respsonsiveness: I play competitive Rocket League to a fairly decent standard, i have noticed no major issues. Perhaps! The x, circle, square and triangle buttons need a firmer press but certainly not an issue once used a few times. 'M' buttons and app: the buttons at the back are quite easy to press, I'm no pro so didn't feel the need for them. Connected to the app following the instructions (online manual) and disabled the buttons. But they're full customizable and i may look at using them in the future. Overall, given the negative feedback I'd read, the controller has exceeded my expectations and will be something id consider in the future ahead of an official sony product. FYI this is also sony licensed controller and will connect via PS4 bluetooth. I use a 3.5mm jack headset so it must be connected with the wire provided. Its a good quality long wire, so this is not an issue for me either.

Vraiment content de ma nouvelle manette !! les joysticks sont vraiment plus précis, les boutons supplémentaires M1 et M2 (ceux au dessus) je les adores ! La manette à un touché peau de pêche très agréable et avec le quel je transpire moins.. Non franchement je ne trouve pas grand chose à redire sur cette manette si ce n'est le faite que les boutons R1 et un L1 sont un peu plus haut et donc il faut s'habituer.. Pour ce qui est des bugs etc, perso j'en ai aucun, tout marche niquel et pas de latence en filaire (j'ai pas essayé en BT) La manette est arrivé mise a jour avec la 1.05 directement Voilà voilà, j'avais peur de faire le pas au vu de tout les mauvais commentaires mais j'ai tenté quand même et je ne regrette pas 🥰

I had the previous Raiju which broke and bought this one, but honestly its not the best controller out there. You are better off buying xbox one elite and using 3 party adapters and use it on PS4.

Controller arrived a day earlier before the date of arrival. Fantastic condition great quality, as expected from a Razer controller.
