Good treatment of a tricky subject
Thumbs up. I love this author and her prophecy ministry! And I needed to read something to clarify women's roles in the church, after years of hearing women called inferior to men in spiritual places of responsibility. The mention of Carrie A Nation as a woman to admire may ring a little strange to those raised with startling photos of this outspoken character, but it gave me a giggle and I might add, a pause. Sometimes we need to see things from a different angle. While this book won't convince everyone, I think it does a fine job of showing a Biblical outlook on women in ministry. Much needed and appreciated.

Excellent and eye-opening
I am a thirty-something female in the western culture who have never deeply considered the problems faced by women in general, nor in ministry. I know there are problems but I have never delved into it because my life has not been so critically affected (as I know many other women in different parts of the world are on a daily basis). This book was extremely eye-opening. The first half of this book is filled with great insight for women called to ministry. It is like being mentored on paper in a transparent, engaging, and friendly way, by someone who has been there and truly gets it. The second half of the book deals more specifically with the arguments for and against women in ministry. It is not as light as the first half but it is clear and well organized, and will most definitely be a great book for future reference. The author is humble and not dogmatic in sharing her own views and conclusions. Overall this book helped me to realize that while there have been major strides forward for women in the secular world, in career, education, and even in some ministries, there is a lot that remains to be overcome. I was shocked and saddened by some of the accounts of unfair and ungodly treatment of women even in the church. However the author ended on a note that left me with great hope that God has already appointed a time where change will come in the area of women serving in the body of Christ as they were always intended to.I received this book from the publisher but my review is without obligation and reflects my own opinions after reading this title.

Excellent book for women called to ministry
Jacobs believes God wants to pour out His Spirit on men and women to be a prophetic voice for this generation. Yes, women! “God is speaking to the prophets all around the world that an army of women is coming who will be evangelists to their cities and who will perform mighty signs and wonders.” (263)She has written this book to encourage women feeling such a call. She wants women to reach their highest potential in church and ministry. She gives many examples of women in powerful ministry. She identifies the obstacles women face and the potential controversies. She shares much from her own experiences too.About midway through the book, Jacobs tackles those pesky questions about what the Bible says regarding women in ministry and leadership. She does a good job of reviewing Scripture passages and biblical examples of women used by God. It is clear there were women deacons and elders in the early church. She clarifies many troublesome passages, thoroughly investigating the original Greek and the bias male translators often show. Jacobs even includes in an Appendix an article from 1894 advocating women in ministry indicating that women in ministry is not some new idea. There were many women in ministry over a century ago and it was not nearly as controversial an issue as it is now. This is an excellent book for women who feel called to ministry yet are hesitant because of their gender. Jacobs addresses all those issues of “authority” and “keep silent” and much more. You will be encouraged to rise up and take your place in the advancement of God's kingdom.I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

A Reminder on What's Really Important in Life
Women, Rise Up! by Cindy Jacobs is a refresher for women everywhere. The book guides us, women, back into the Christian fold. Showing and telling us how to live as Christians. Quotes from the Bible are seen throughout the book. But they do not overwhelm the author's main purpose. Women are to rise up, and be demonstrators or influencers of good deeds. Sure, we are all human so, yes, mistakes do happen. The writer/speaker keeps her words real by saying after we have gone through the pain, anger, and sorrow stages, we need to learn how to forgive. Forgiveness is one of the hardest things to accomplish. We all have been hurt big and small times many times over. But in the end, we must move forward, and to do that-we are to forgive. Just like the Bible tells us. There were many other motivational and inspiring messages throughout this book. I really enjoyed reading this Christian book and will keep reading it over time. Overall, this is a must read for all women. I received this copy from the publisher. This is my voluntary review.
