Q: What is the difference between the "4th generation" and the previous generation fat rope stick?

The 4th gen Fat Rope Stick has a slightly modified wax infusion, and a finer stranded rope. But most notably, Procamptek changed the plastic label to a paper-based sleeved label that can also be cut and processed as tinder also without removing the label from the outside of the Fat Rope Stick. So overall, it's even easier to process, easier to light, and more environmentally friendly on packaging!

Q: On average about how many fires can one stick start?

Honestly it all depends on your weather conditions and your wood prep. I personally break down the fat rope into its smallest strand. I believe each fat rope stick has 9 strands. I take 1 strand and cut it into 4 inch strands. I then fluff it up. The burn time per strand is 45-60 seconds. If you can't start a fire with one 3 inch strand, you need better wood prep. In my personal survival kit, I keep 5 strand, a fero rod, and 5 storm matches.

Fat Rope Stick is made from a fully infused, fine stranded, cotton rope material. We also make another product that IS made with wood...it's called Wax Wood Stick.
