Premiertek PowerLink PL-H5DN-3070 IEEE 802.11n (Draft) Wi-Fi Adapter - USB - 150Mbps

Purchased this to connect my WDTV live to my home network and stream some movies and home videos. Worked like a champ. Also allows me to stream hd movies with no stuffer. I'm very pleased.

I bought this after an Airlink 101 (AWLL6075) failed to transmit a strong enough signal from my wireless router. This adapter/antenna did a great job of using the weak wireless signal and allowed me to stream HD video to both my WD Live and Live plus media players. There are two reasons I only gave this 4 stars instead of 5. First, this thing is pretty huge and bulky. When fitted in the usb port of my media player or my computer, it sags due to its weight. The other reason for not giving it a perfect rating is that Amazon's price on this was about double the cost of what I would have paid for it at other online retailers.

This product works well, but I did hit some snags getting it installed and working.First, the User Manual wasn't written for Windows 7. Seems that the Ralink utility is the only option for configuring on this operating system. Once installed, I rebooted, went to the Start menu, found the Ralink Configuration Utility under All Programs, clicked that, and sat back while nothing happened. Can't bring up the Configuration Utility that way. The only way to bring up the utility is to go to hidden icons and right-click the Ralink icon.After getting the thing configured, the utility showed it was working but I had no increase in speed or signal strength. If anything the signal may have been a bit weaker. I'm using a laptop, when home I attach a display, mouse and keyboard. The laptop and Linksys E3000 router are both on my desktop, the USB port is about 12" from the router. After attaching a standard USB cable and moving the adapter about 3 feet away from the router it works well. The router and adapter appear to generate interference when too close together. There was no discussion in the User Manual about signal interference when the adapter is too close to the router.

this adapter worked great for about a week, then it stopped working at all, then it worked here and therethis adapter was supposed to eliminate dead spots in my wifi but it seems there are more dead spots than before

it was defected when I received it. It is so flimsy it doesn't stand up I have to prop it up.

I have used this on multiple operating systems and it works flawlessly. You just plug it in and it works. Windows activates the necessary drivers automatically, and with Linux it works right out of the box.

I can now access wifi for free in the apt. building I live. Would have rated 5, however I had issues with installing with CD they provide. So, I downloaded installation from manufacturers web site, which I provided a link below.[...]Link below this is for a USB cable (Amazon product) I used along with my Wifi adapter. I was able to connect cable to computer, ran it under my apartment door to hallway, then hooked adapter to it. works very well for picking up wifi at long range, but drops signal at times. I use it for online gaming, causing some lag and disconnects, but otherwise speed/strength is good.
