Such a funny show

Not very good for 2 specific reasons: 1. Mindy Kaling doesn't understand self-deprecation - which is the main ingredient for any good comedic actor. She spends so much time trying to convince us that she's "every woman," that she never stops to realize we just aren't buying it. Her character dates and sleeps with a string of guys (who all confusingly want only her even though there are clearly hotter girls in the room), then whines through each episode that she can't find "Mr. Right," and we, the audience, are supposed to believe that that's true? Mindy should have allowed her character to have a hard time getting a date, for superficial reasons such as weight, race, beliefs, etc., which would have endeared us to her, carried a ring of truth, and made her alot funnier. 2. Apparently Mindy didn't learn from her time on The Office that, if you give the supporting cast rich personalities, it only enhances the main character and attacts more viewers to your show. The old "there's-someone/thing-for-everyone" principal. Mindy has surrounded herself with bland, one note players, to enhance her "stardom" and it fails miserably. Most likely because it's a testament that Mindy kaling cannot carry an entire show by herself. She's just not that interesting. Notice, Steve Carrell followed both of these guidelines on The Office. (The Office's Kelly Kapour was 10 times funnier, but also didn't have to carry an entire show on her own. Even so, I would much rather watch "The Kelly Kapour Show" over this). If you don't believe me, after you watch the season, go back and just watch the last 5 minutes or so of season 1. Mindy has just cut off all her hair into a dreadful Demi Moore cut, and is wearing glasses which gives her an adorable, nerdy, pixie look, and is feeling very self-conscious while sitting on the couch in the employee lounge with her co-worker - whom she's had a mini-crush on all season. She even has her feet tucked under her on the couch for extra effect. Their brief back and forth is very good and honest. It's like she's pulling out a new character that is way different than the character she stuffed down our throats all season. You'll say to yourself, "This is what the show should have been all season!" Unfortunately, it's the last scene of the season 1 finale. Anyone recommend season 2? Does it get any better? Please let me know.

I loved Mindy when she came out ❤️ She was a life saver

Mindy Laheri is an adorably quirky/crazy 30-something OB/GYN with eclectic fashion and a tongue like a guillotine who stumbles her way through love (after love after love) while balancing her career. The two constant fixtures in her life are her business partners/friends, (He’s only there for Brit eye-candy) Jeremy and (handsome but occasionally insufferable jerk) Danny. Though she starts off heartbroken because of her cheating fiancé, she cheerfully moves on with her life and continues to fill the void by pursuing a string of unsuccessful relationships.So far I really like this show. I can’t honestly say, “It’s nice to see a show featuring a woman of color,” because race aside, Mindy is as American Girl as you can get. The jokes aren’t always ROFL, side-splittingly funny, but they’re actually – and I can’t believe I’m saying this – clever and witty. The dialogue is entertaining, the cast has great chemistry (though still waiting for Jeremy to gain a little more depth), and I like seeing Mindy interact with all her weird boyfriends.Well worth the purchase and looking forward to Season 2.

I cannot recommend the Mindy Project enough (literally I think I recommend it to everyone I meet). It is just SO unbelievably funny, the humor is dry and witty, but also really silly at times (see character Morgan, my favorite character aside from Mindy). It will have you laughing out loud every other minute. Mindy is just so refreshing as a female lead, as she is a girly girl but she has brains and quick wit, and wont let anyone hold her down. If you like The Office (which Mindy Kaling (Mindy Project creator) came from as both an actor and a writer), Parks and Rec, or Arrested Development (all three of which I love), then I think you will like this show-- though it is more female-focused, so keep that in mind. My mom and I blew through this season (which has almost 30 episodes) in a matter of days. Once you start, you wont want to stop watching, which is why I am so happy that it got renewed for a third season!!In short, I'd give the Mindy Project 10 stars if I could. Check it out, and you wont be disappointed!

OK I admit it. I was never a big fan of The Office. It just wasn't really my type of humor. (I know, what? Sorry all you Office fans) So when my niece told me to watch Mindy, I wasn't so sure I would like it but said I'd give it a try. I can't tell you how many times I have thanked her for turning me onto this incredibly funny show. I have loved every episode and probably watched most of them, ok, all of them, more than once. They are just so funny and sometimes you are so busy laughing at one thing, that you can't even hear the next funny thing and you have to watch it again, because you miss something else! It's that funny! Mindy Kaling is amazing, Chris Messina, fantastic (and easy on the eyes) and the rest of the cast is great too. I love all the celebrity guest spots too. So well written. Just pure enjoyment!

The first few episodes are a bit rough, as the show is finding itself, but once it hits stride The Mindy Project is--for me--one of the funniest and most sweetly endearing shows that I have ever come across. It's not just a sitcom, it's a serialized romantic comedy for television, and the core cast of characters is fantastic in their individual quirks and their chemistry with each other. This show has some of the best, most consistently funny lines of dialogue that I have ever encountered on TV. The writing, acting and editing combine fantastically. But even as wacky as it can get, the show has great heart. Mindy Kaling really impresses here--she embodies the personality of her character well and is very game for physical comedy. If you are looking for a show that just feels good, this fits the bill.

Love the show and wanted all the seasons on DVD - the price was unbeatable as was the super quick delivery and excellent packaging,All in all amazing product and service,Worth getting for the ability to watch it all from the begining without breaks of needing to find all the old episode links, this has them all and some additional extras on the DVD,Well worth buying if you like Friends / community / how i met your mother / the oc / one tree hill - this is under the same amazing sitcom umbrella of those shows and for this price you couldnt even but the first ep on itunes but this set has the whole 1st seasonAnd season 5 is now being shown - so catch up quick....

I have watched this Show, ever sinced it was aired on Television. Out of every Comedy I've watched, in my opinion this has to be the best. Mindy Kaling is exceptional as well as the rest of the Cast. I bought it and it arrived within 2 days. Excellent Service. This is an excellent piece of Comedy done beautifully. I will be buying Season 2 when it becomes available on DVD.

I love The Mindy Project. Every character is gold. I love that Mindy is, actually, quite a horrible person. Female characters are so one dimensional but despite Mindy's flaws (including selfishness, rudeness, classism), she is also funny, intelligent, confident and relatable. I also really love the supporting characters. I can't wait to see Series 2.

One of the most amazing and hilarious comedies I have ever seen and I watch a lot of television. Mindy Kaling is excellent in all roles and as a writer. Would thoroughly recommend. DVD cam quickly and is in perfect condition unlike other boxsets I have ordered which have been broken.

Brilliant DVD and great value for money. Kaling is really funny and would definitely recommend this. SHould perhaps be a 15 though and not a 12!
