Mini Crochet Creatures: 30 Amigurumi Animals to Make Kindle Edition

I got this for my daughter's birthday, because she borrowed it from the library several times. It is worth owning.

Has the definitions and how to do the stitches in the back, with pictures, and the US names of the stitches. You can use any type of yarn for the figures just know that’s I’ll change the size of them! Still super easily to read once you get the vocabulary and the stitches down!

I love the variety of different animals and the fact that there’s an index with specific pictures of each kind of a stitch in the back of the book (it’s in UK crochet terms).To do all the projects the way the book recommends you need medium weight worsened yarn, a 3.5mm crochet hook, embroidery needle and tread, and various colors of felt. I don’t have the embroidery needle/ thread or felt so I haven’t been able to do many of the animals yet.I gave 4 stars because despite following the recommended size of yarn and hook, I find my animals come out just slightly larger than expected. Which is fine, I can just size down yarn and hook but the “actual size” photos aren’t accurate.And the written instructions are unnecessarily complicated. There’s a chart of each row and exactly what stitch to use and how many and it looked complicated so I figured the word instructions would be easier, definitely not. The chart is actually really helpful once you understand it.It doesn’t say to use a stitch marker, but you should definitely use one. It’s really easy to make mistakes or to lose track of which number stitch your on and there’s no real way to know how far back to go to fix it.

I've been crocheting for over two decades, so I am not a beginner in any sense. One thing that I appreciate about this book is that the "supporting information" (e.g., techniques, tools, yarn types, etc.) is at the BACK of the book, so I can open it at the beginning and go straight into the patterns. The info is there for those who need it, but for those who don't, you will not have to wade through those sections to get to the main content.These patterns are well-constructed, and surprisingly detailed and unique in spite of their size and similar base shape/style. Each pattern has a little introduction, several finished object examples shown, and a complete list of materials required to replicate those examples. The instructions are presented in both written and chart form, which is outstanding; I like to go back and forth between the two, so it's awesome to have both. The key for the charts is also included next to each chart, so that you don't have to flip back and forth between the supporting info and the pattern. There's also information in each pattern as well as at the back of the book on finishing techniques.Overall, this is a fantastic book. Great patterns, beautiful presentation, and quality information. I'm so glad I bought it!**For those in the US, this book uses UK crochet terminology, so keep that in mind before you start; check the techniques section in the back if you are unsure.

I absolutely love this book and have made a bunch of these darling little creatures already. I made the panda bear, sorry about the terrible picture, and attached keychain to it. Excellent instructions, beautiful pictures and a really thoughtful book! I believe this book would work for beginners as well as intermediate and advanced crocheters who just want to have some fun. The amigurumi are very cute, there are tutorials at the end of the book of the fundamentals of crochet, there're only pictures and texts of the steps of how to make the amigurumi, would be great if we can have video instructions. The amigurumi can be challenging at the beginning, but once you figure out how to make the first one, you basically can do all other amigurumi in the book because the pattern are very similar.

Great for smaller projects. Love it so much. Easy to follow. Definitely recommend for cricketers of various levels. I turned mine into key chains. Lol. C:

Fully obsessed with these little creatures. I borrowed the book from the library, but needed to buy my own copy ASAP. Each sweet little pattern is easily modified to suit your own creativity. I was able to make the cat look just like mine, and modify other designs to look like a dolphin and lemur (patterns that are NOT in the book). You can pretty much make any animal using a mash up of the many many patterns given.

Good book of patterns, very fun to make and easy to follow.

I haven't tried any of the patterns yet.The book is well presented with the fun pictures on the front cover.The patterns read well, a good sturdy book.
