Great, if you get the real deal
I got these for my boyfriend. So I originally ordered these from Amazon marketplace and by comparing the box I got to the genuine box photos, it was pretty obvious that I received knockoffs. Amazon was really good about refunding my purchase after I complained. Unfortunately, it looks like these keep getting sold by a series of slightly sketchy importers, using shifting names, and I don't fully trust that anyone selling Wheel Brightz under this listing is selling the genuine article. So I bought a new set of Wheel Brightz from the manufacturer's website.I am super bad at mechanical stuff, but installation was OK. Maybe 15-20 minutes per wheel.I got the pink one, my boyfriend got the multi-color. They both look great. The multi-color version looks kind of ugly when you're stationary compared to the other, more uniform colors, but it's totally sick when you're actually on the bike in motion -- it's like having a little rainbow whipping around your rim. For thirty bucks you bring a lot of joy to the world -- we probably average one direct compliment for every 1-2 miles or so of biking, depending on pedestrian density (and I overhear a lot of people talking about the lights but not directly to us). Typical encounters: A little kid in Bernal Heights shouted "you have a cool bike!" from his front porch. A (probably slightly intoxicated) pedestrian in the Mission told my boyfriend he had the coolest bike in San Francisco and gave him a fist-bump. Another stranger shouted, "I like your Playa bike!" (this is not my Playa bike, although these lights would be perfect for Burning Man.) The lights are very bright and visible, although you still need to have standard front and rear lights, as the Wheel Brightz can't be seen from directly behind or in front of the bike.Update: A year later, I still haven't had to change the batteries! I have had to order one replacement power supply for my boyfriend's bike, though -- we hang our bikes vertically by the front wheel on wall-mounted hanging racks and over time, the power cord got caught between the wheel and the rack enough times that it frayed and wore through. (You can avoid this if you are reasonably careful when you hang up your bike and avoid crushing the power connector cable -- it just hadn't occurred to us that this would be a problem until the cable broke, so we didn't bother trying to avoid it.) More recently, a segment (about a quarter) of the lights on one of his wheels went out, although you can't tell when the bike is in motion. Again, this is probably caused by hanging the bike by the front wheel.Update II: I've gotten several more sets of these, and they're still great, but I notice that in some of the sets I've bought more recently, in the initial packaging, the battery pack is screwed on so tightly I've had to use an electric screwdriver to open it -- it would be nice if they could fix that and not over-tighten the screws!Update III: I recently brought a pair of these to Burning Man. I noticed on the Playa that of all the different lighting schemes people used for their bikes, Wheel Brightz were the brightest and most visible -- far better than EL wire or front and rear lights. If you are planning to go to Burning Man, I would recommend Wheel Brightz as an absolute must-have for your bike.

Great for a bike crawl
These lights were very easy to install! They come with zip ties for an extra secure hold, but I weaved mine through the spokes so I didn’t need too many ties. These are bright and look very cool when riding. They’re good for kids bikes at night because they’re very hard for drivers to miss.

Are Wheel Brights extraterrestrial?
I have now installed more sets of Wheel Brights than I care to admit. I am back today to order more and have already given them as gifts for my kids, friends/relatives.Are the Wheel Brightz inexpensive? No, in fact I delayed purchasing my first set for months because the price seems quite steep for cutesy LED bike lights. However, after finally buying my first set (2-pack) and installing (first time takes some effort [20 min] but simple for me now [5min]) I now see that they are well worth every penny. These lights (blue, red and green are all bright and vibrant colors) are super fun! They make biking much more fun and much more safe... How safe? Cars now come to a screeching halt as soon as we approach an intersection just to gawk at the effects, that or they think aliens are landing, in any case they work! The circus is coming to town every time our family rolls through! How fun? When I roll through the neighborhood bike path near sundown the little kids and toddlers chase after my bike, like a pack of wild dogs, gleefully pointing and drooling over "the coolest bike I ever seen!"One caveat. People on foot, on bikes and in cars will flag you down to find out where you get those lights? It can be annoying but I typically indulge if time permits.Ok, they are the greatest thing in the galaxy and known universe? Well, maybe... but of course there are a few imperfections in the Wheel Brightz. As some reviewers have lamented they simply don't fit small kiddie bikes very well or sometimes at all. I recommend them for 20" or larger for best results and smaller sizes depend on the wheel/spoke design. If the battery pack fits inside the spokes you can always spiral the lights or wrap them more than once for a nice effect. They also require battery replacement but I can go a month or so between changes (depending on use of course) and if you are proficient at Wheel Brightz installation it's no bid deal. It may be a nuisance if you are not used to the installation process. The switches are a bit flaky and sometimes require a bit of messing with to get them to switch on/off but I've yet to have one fail. However, I could see how they one day might fail and is a distinct possibility. Are they built to last a lifetime? No, definitely not. I expect to occasionally replace...I asked my three kids what they thought of them just now (ages 6-11) and they just just went wild.

Critical design flaw
These lights look cool, get a lot of attention, and are fairly easy to install.....but, the rubber strap that holds the battery box to the spokes is a weak spot that can break and the battery box will get caught up and tear the wires off.I installed these then came back out a few hours later only to find that the soft silicone rubber bands that hold the battery boxes on each wheel was broken and the battery boxes were getting caught on the frame.Luckily I noticed this as I was walking my bike out of the garage on not when I was riding. If it would have let go while riding the battery box would have been ripped from the wire leaving the units useless.I had to use electrical tape to hold the battery boxes to the spokes which is going to make battery changes a pain.I'm sure the manufacturer has received compaints about this issue. I doubt I'm the only one this has happened to. And I doubt the seller will replace the unit if the strap breaks and destroys the unit.

Muy esenciales y se ven increíble
Estás luces fueron para la bicicleta de mi hijo, él quedó encantado y los conocidos aún más. Me gusto aún más que son visibles a distancia lo que permite seguridad al transitar de noches en las calles.

Nice and bright
Had these for a few weeks. Very bright and great for riding at night. Will buy again for the back wheel.

Cool idea, poorly executed
The idea is good and the lights like cool but it's poorly executed. Build quality is poor, and mounting 6 batteries to your wheel hub proves to be problematic due to centrifugal forces. Bought two sets, and one was dimmer than the other. Mind ended up in the bin after breaking from just a few rides.
