Proform 66788 Rod Bolt Stretch Gauge

Good mine was missing the bottom pin.. so couldn't really use it. Had to borrow one.

Kind of a piece of crap but you get what you pay for, the C shaped part was visibly warped when it arrived, and not from any physical trauma, just bad QC.It work, is accurate enough, and it was cheap so I can't complain too much.

The media could not be loaded. The biggest issue is the spring is not strong enough to hold the tool in place. Which leads to the needle bouncing around and some guesswork and uninspiring confidence that you were getting the right measurement.Buying the ARP tool…

The tool works if you have the room to hang it upside down letting it have from the bolt, but if you add a small spring it works great.

I was hoping for more, but i have to remember that you get what you pay for. This was the cheapest stretch gauge that I could find. This tool might be just fine for most, but it was awkward for me to use. The frame was barely long enough to facilitate the rod bolts that I was working with. My recommendation is to spend the extra bucks and get a quality tool. This one is good in a pinch, but is a real pain to use.

Impossible to use. Get a better one if you're conisdering buying this. The dial indicator spring is far too weak causing fluctuations in readings.

In a high volume shop where your building many engines a month you may want a better quality. But for infrequent use it does the job, it is accurate. I don’t have any trouble with it. If you’re not patient taking measurements even the best quality will not work for you.

I was a little worried with some of the reviews on here, but it works brilliantly for half the price of others. I would strongly recommend it.
