Favorite Practice Ball
This is my favorite contact juggling practice ball. I have been using one for a few months now. I ordered more for practicing multi-ball body rolls and stalls. My performance balls are custom made (liquid silicone filled stainless steel) to closely match the characteristics of this ball. For this ball, Play makes a hole in their 260g stage ball; adds 40g of silicone oil; then plugs the hole. On occasion the plug may come out. Check the plug after every drop. The one time a plug came out on me, it sounded like someone had grabbed a goose by the tail. I live in Colorado (high elevation) and I think the balls come from Italy (lower elevation). The stored internal air pressure caused the ball to spit silicon oil all over the place while making the strange noise. I depressurize the balls now by pulling the plug out enough to “burp” the ball, then re-insert the plug. One will not be able to make a seamless transition from this ball (300g) to a much heavier (665g) undamped 100mm acrylic ball. You will still need to practice a lot with your acrylic. The nice thing about this ball is; it will not do as much damage as an acrylic when it gets away from you; and you won’t have to chase it as far.Side note: Dawn liquid dish soap does a decent job getting silicone oil out of a silk oriental carpet.

Silicone leaked
If you apply pressure to this ball (I'm not talking about a lot of pressure, just squeezing it in your hand), the silicone oil will come out the plug. The plug looks to be glued, melted, or whatever, permanently into the ball. So, I don't think it should leak. But, it does. And since the plug does not appear to be removable, it a significant portion of the silicone does leak out, you can't open the plug to replace it - the ball is ruined. And by the way, luckily mine leaked onto my hands and a hard surface. If you got silicone oil on your carpet or furniture, good luck getting it out. This is a hazardous thing to have sitting around.I'm giving it 2 stars instead of one because, until it leaked, it does do what it is supposed to do. It would be a fine ball if they sealed it better. And maybe the one I got was just defective, but there are tons of companies that sell balls like this. If I were you, I'd but a different brand rather than take the risk.I would also look for one that has a higher viscosity silicone oil in it, because the oil in this one doesn't damp motion as much as I would like. I don't think they list the amount of oil or viscosity, but manufacturers of these products really should do that since it will have a large effect on how the ball moves.
