Grammar and Punctuation Workbook: 10-11 years (Bond SATs Skills)

This is an excellent book! It contains 10 units covering aspects of grammar, punctuation and spelling. Some of these aspects come up in several units (eg. identifying formal language, spelling, etc.). Most of the units are 4 A4 pages long. What I particularly like about this book are the little information boxes next to many tasks. In these boxes relevant grammatical terms are explained. I think this is a particularly good book for children starting out their SAT practice or those getting near the date and want to revise what they have learned.My daughter is in Year 6 and loved this book. She has been completing a unit a day for the past week by choice. Due to the information boxes she can manage the practice all on her own. In case she doesn't know a grammatical term, she can read the info box or look it up in the glossar at the end. Once she is done she can check her answers with the answer sheet provided. She can then track her progress with the chart at the end of the book. Perfect! Bond clearly thought this through. My daughter is highly motivated due to this book, knew something in class that nobody else knew, which made her very proud, and has already asked me to buy the stretch version.A few months on: My daughter has now also completed the stretch version. In the autumn term, she barely passed her grammar test in school, now she is in the top group in her class. She almost got full score on her last SAT mock test. I can't recommend these books enough!

I really like all of the Bond skills books. I find that the grammar and punctuation activities aren’t all exactly what I’m looking for (I think they’re perhaps still leaning slightly towards 11+). For example, I’d like more activities on modal verbs and relative clauses rather than superlative adjectives.However, don’t be put off. There are some great little activities. I find these very useful for basic skill sessions or homework. Would reccomend but understand they won’t cover everything that you want.

This book is really good. The grammar that's been brought in for the KS2 Sats now can be quite tricky, so the extra practice this book offers is very helpful. There are 10 units with different topics of questions, and next to most of the questions there's a little info box with very clear and simple explanations of those topics, which help a lot, and there are a few extra "helpful hints" dotted around too.The answers are in the middle of the book, and a progress sheet at the back, if you want to keep track. The book is in a no nonsense format with plain black and white, no colour or pictures but it does the job very well and the paper quality is decent. We've been happy with all of the Bond workbooks we've tried for this age range, and would recommend
