Its a lifestyle book
After trying to lose weight for so many years, trying every fad diet and reading every "diet" book, I was losing hope. After reading Urban Skinny I have an entirely new outlook on weight loss. This is a "lifestyle" book, not a "diet" book and it has completely changed my life. This book teaches you that you that you can still eat the foods you love and lose weight. I definitely recommend this book for people that have struggled with their weight and are tired of being told "no, you can't eat that". I have learned that its all about portion control so I can still eat my favorite mint chocolate chip ice cream!!!

Tips make sense - reasonable lifestyle changes
I would strongly recommend this book over a lot of "diet books" which claim to be new innovative ways to lose weight. This book suggests life style changes for permanent weight loss and weight maintenance. The author's suggestions are not drastic and don't require expensive special foods or equipment. The tips are eminently doable and my husband and I find them easy to get used to. We lost over 30 lbs. each following the tips in this book and we don't feel like we are on a "diet". Excellent book - highly recommend it.

I love diet books, even though I hate diets. Fortunately, this isn't a diet book or a diet. It's more of a fabulous guide that helps you stop wailing, "Why can't I drop these last few pounds?" and gets you back into your fave skinny jeans, pronto. Easy-to-follow meal plans and (ahem) rather enlightening calorie counts for foods I love are helping me do this without losing my mind and eating my own hand out of desperate hunger. Krikorian's writing style makes this a fun, breezy read, and Schupp clearly knows that girls just wanna have food as well as fun. After a year of recipe-testing for my book (Cherries in Winter: My Family's Recipe for Hope in Hard Times), this is exactly what I needed. Thanks, ladies!

Losing weight and still able to have my vino!
I read this book and it was a breath of fresh air! I needed to lose weight, but I was so sick of reading "diet" books that were filled with the words "no", "can't" etc... I didn't want to stop eating my favorite foods or drinking my favorite glass of wine, and this book showed me how to do it! I don't have those "binge" days anymore because I've learned my limits and thanks to this book, I educated myself on portion control, eating in moderation and resuming exercise in my life to pull everything together. This book is a must if you want to change your life on eating better, and not just one month before a beach vacation!
