Hits way above its price point
I have a lot of high end guitars from Gibson, Fender, USA BC Rich, PRS, and higher priced Jacksons. This Jackson for a $179 hits way above its price point. Its has less flaws than my Les Paul standard and SG came with. The neck feels better than my $1200 Jackson King V. Intonation was really good. I was worried about fret sprout and was fully prepared to fil the frets. To my surprise it wasn't needed. The frets were pretty good out of the Box. The action was just right and ready to go. Then Fretboard seemed dry, so I took the strings off and oiled the fretboard and restrung it and it place really nice. The frets themselves could use some polishing, but that's to be expected on a guitar at this price point. The stock pick ups are actually not that bad and overall tone for those into rock and Metal is pretty good. The tuners work and the guitar stays in tune well. This could be a great first guitar that you can grow with. I would not hesitate to tossing some upgrades on this guitar. Maybe a better nut, and some locking tuners. This thing is hitting way above its price point. Lets hope Jackson keeps this price this way. Whats also cool about Jackson is it just says Jackson not something else to say its an affordable model. Like ESP does with LTD or Fender with Squire. So you could take this to a gig and no one would be the wiser that you are playing a very affordable guitar.

Whoever said this was a good guitar was mistaken. It is a GREAT guitar!
I love this Jackson Dinky JS22. I previously owned a Jackson Soloist Pro MIJ and I really liked the neck. So, I bought this. It is nice looking, has a good fit and finish, a super comfortable neck, and sounds like a champ. Out of the box, the setup was good. The only thing I would change is that the string height (action) is too high for me. The cool thing is that each string has its own height adjustment. I did put new .009 D'Addario strings on it (the stock ones sounded fine BTW) and added 2 more springs to the tremolo since I will never use it. After the strings were properly wound at the tuner and stretched, it stays in tune like a champ. I often play clean and the hot pickups give a nice overdrive tone. If you're really in to using the Tremolo bar, I would spend the extra bucks and get a JS32. It has a Double Locking Floyd Rose Tremolo, so it will stay in tune when you're beating on it. A few guys say that with the cost you wouldn't be heartbroken if someone stole it at a gig. But, I think I would be very sad.

Good Fast Neck
I was prepared to put it on the bench to level and dress the frets after I received it but there was no need to. About 1/2 turn tightening of the truss rod and then lowering the strings a bit is all it needed to bring it to my specifications, and without any fret buzz. The neck overall is well done. The volume knob is at a well placed distance so my hand doesn't hit it while playing. I usually put Duncan SH-4's in my guitars but the pups in this guitar aren't bad. The tremolo throws it out of tune but I don't need it so I will just hard tail it. The intonation was spot on. The shape of the body and weight are very comfortable. I have 35 years playing experience, played Deluxe Strats, Gibson LP's, SG's, etc... and I like this guitar. If you want to use a tremolo I would look elsewhere but other than that this guitar plays great and is a real bargain.

Nice beginner guitar for the money
Just started playing guitar as a middle aged guy, was looking for something not very expensive but not a pile of junk either, glad I went the Jackson JS22 Archtop, nice guitar for the $200 I spent on it. It came nicely protected in its packaging, is built very solidly which should make it last a long time and sounds good as well. I hand oiled the back of the wood neck which comes kind of unfinished and it made a big difference, also had to dramatically adjust the truss rod, it was way off. Though the archtop certainly looks cool its a little hard to get an electronic tuner clipped to it but its possible (tuning was a little difficult but doable). The whammy bar has a nice design to it however I dont use it much. The Jackson humbucker pickups were at the right height and certainly sound pretty good, I paired the guitar with a Line 6 modeler amp and have been quite happen with how it all sounds. The strings are pretty standard fare but get the job done. Overall a pretty decent little guitar for the $200. TC

Feels good, sounds good
I will say that you’ll probably need to mess with the intonation and action to get this guitar to sound perfectly on-pitch. But once you do that, it’s great and fun to play. People might diss the pickups, but here’s a secret: in a high-gain studio environment, they do not matter. When EQ’d and multitracked right, this guitar sounds literally identical to the $1k+ ones they sample in Kontakt libraries when put through the same chain.

For the price this is a great guitar for someone new to the guitar or even a med level player. It's has 24 frets and the strings are nice and low to the fret board making it easy to play. The pick ups are good too. They whammy bar is not a Floyd and is not locking and only dives down. But it works and the guitar does stay in tune. For the price this is a great guitar. 5 stars.
