Tiny camera with great features that could be all you need for a holiday!
So far I’m really impressed by this tiny sports cam! First time I’ve bought a cam this size and spec before. I was looking specifically for something that can take good quality video while I cycle in London. Ideally something that can capture detail if needed. The specs looked good on the website, but it was hard to choose this over other cameras that look the same, have basically the same features and are the same price. I’ve not been disappointed so far!Set up is quick and intuitive and it’s possible to charge one of the batteries in the device while using/setting up the camera so that means you can get going right away. The batteries took about 30-40 mins to charge fully in the charger and in the camera itself.I tested the video at 4K 30FPS with image stablisation on and it looks very good. I’d say it’s much better than the waterproof camera I have with video function, but perhaps the colour is a little washed out in comparison. I noted in the settings that you can manually adjust ISO, White balance and colour settings for image and video so that’s going to be great for anyone on holiday that will be relying on this to capture all their images as well as video. The downloadable app is a little... sparse... and is quite similar to other apps you get from similar priced devices. You can adjust all the settings via WIFI and see a live view from the lens, take pics and video and download the results to your phone. I’ve only done this once and I found the downloading process a little convoluted because you first seem to have to transfer the captured shots/video to the app and only then to your phone (using the iOS sharing feature). Perhaps there’s a simpler process? If so I hope someone might reply to this review and tell me. The fact that the iOS app makes use of the sharing feature is good because it means captures can be saved to files and photo albums or any apps that are compatible.I’ve tried connecting directly to the camera via SMB and the WIFI URL and it does seem to accept the connection but it asks for a username and password which is not provided (I tried the WIFI default as well as a few Admin guesses). Again if anyone finds out how to connect directly to the cam using other apps then let me know!Aside from the camera, there’s a fair few attachments, waterproof housing, spare lid, spare battery, the external charger and cable, cleaning cloth and some metal and Velcro cables for further attachment options. It also comes with a pretty good quality manual. I found the camera intuitive enough not to need the manual and the first time you switch the camera on it has an 8-step guide built in to the software which you can see on the screen. The screen seems really good quality, rich colours and good definition. The touch screen is also responsive and good to have. All in all, my first impressions and first use (around the house) of this camera are really top notch and I’m both happy and slightly suprised that this may exceed expectations. I had not got my hopes up after reading reviews of similar cameras and was expecting quality and colour to be no match for a point and shoot camera and iPhone X video camera. However, I think it is possible I may leave the point and shoot camera at home when I next go on holiday!

Ideal for my upcoming holiday
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. For me, its a great camera that I can take where I cant take my mirrorless - namely in the pool on holiday. The video quality is ideal for what I need - 4K is good, yet I still prefer 1080 and with this camera I get the option of shooting at 30, 60 and 120 FPS at 1080.Stabilisation seems to work well too - essential with the camera being so light and held the way it is.Having a touchscreen is actually very useful as it saves you going through multiple menu cycles to get to the setting you need; in this camera the screen is pretty sensitive so it works well. Its quick to start up and responds well to button presses and the wifi connectivity with the supplied app on my android phone worked well.In the box there is the usual raft of accessories to clamp it on to most things - the only thing i will purchase is a stabilisation device for even smoother filming. This is being passed onto my daughter as a cheaper - but very effective - big brand alternative. The image quality and flexibility make this camera a serious alternative to spending 4 times the amount!

Disappointing.
I’ve used a few cheap GoPro copies in the past and they’ve been simple to use and work relatively well.I bought this at over twice the price of my last one and although the picture quality is better, the usability is very disappointing. My findings:The Loop mode doesn’t overwrite the oldest file, so it just fills up the card, and then stops recording. The screen says loop mode at the bottom, and I asked customer service if there was a firmware upgrade but they sent me a link to a video and the link didn’t work. I asked them to resend it but didn’t receive a reply. There is a screensaver mode which you can set (Mine’s on 30 seconds) but when you come to stop recording (after pressing a button to bring the screen back to life) you only have about 2 or 3 seconds before it goes blank again. Not the 30 seconds that you would expect. The top led indicator is obscured by the waterproof case so you can’t see it. Just poor design. The battery life is dire on 4K.So all in all, a bit disappointing and not the best customer service I had either.Would I buy it again? No not this particular one unless the bugs are sorted out.Update March 2021:After using it through the cold winter, I found that the battery was lasting15 minutes after an overnight charge. So if you want so me thing to record your winter sports activities I would look elsewhere.

Well worth the spend on the X30
Ended up purchasing the X30 and I must say the touch screen is of a great quality than I was expecting and the software options are quite intuitive for both video, photos and overall camera adjustment.I found the mounting kit options overwhelming as there are a lot of pieces to choose from which is a good thing but instruction in the manual isn't intuitive. I found videos online on YouTube to remedy that :-) and got the camera mounted on my bike. The shots and videos are not as great as the GoPro but I will admit not too far off hence much more value for money. The APP gives you full access to the settings on camera which I found handy but only usable when the camera Wifi is turned on which will impact the battery life. Wifi access via the APP removes the need for the remote as seen on the other models.I am not sure on the EIS as I notice video distortion correction attempt when I move the camera which I will be testing on a ride. All in all, a great boy and highly recommended!!!
