It’s loud. Sounds like an ol’ timey clock running. I can hear it from across a 20 x 20 foot room. The face is clear plastic not glass. It’s very light weight. I suspect it will work just fine, but it’s not a fine timepiece. For the price I’d buy it again, but that doesn’t mean it deserves a great rating. If I needed it to be quiet it would have to go back, but the noise of the machine I’m installing it on more than covers the sound of the hour meter.
