Review: Author showed how to write a Textbook in Communication Engineering first time in the history - I don't have words to explain the beauty of this excellent text book. A large number of Figures and Tables are used to explain the difficult topics like PLL, Synchronization(Carrier Phase, Frequency and Symbol time), OFDM and Transceiver architecture. Author successfully answered "Why" of communication systems in an unprecedented detail. This is really an excellent and unique book in Communication Engineering and wish every Communication Engineering Student/Engineer/Faculty should read it. Review: The book is excellent. Its main highlight are intuitive figures and reasonings that make sense without the need of too complex math. The fact that we are taught waves can be represented as complex exponentials does not mean that you *need* to represent them as such; there are other ways of doing stuff. Personally, when I have to tackle a difficult domain, my experience recommends looking into different books that treat the topic differently. This is a very good complementary reference for (wannabe) wireless communication experts, including researchers.

First off this book is expansive. It covers a lot of material and covers it in a way that is easy to read and very approachable. I am a BSEE many decades ago and didn't focus on digital communication while in college. I found this book to be just the solution to fill that gap of my knowledge base. I recently needed to come up to speed on recent wireless technologies for a project I was working on and this book is now my Go To for the subject matter. The constant references to GNURadio components allowed me to experiment with the material using simulation which was much appreciated over needing to purchase SDR hardware. This author has a few other books I am going to consider in the future.

This book introduces signal processing from a DSP point of view, which is refreshing. All computations are done in "I,Q" format as in a real chip, completely ignoring Euler's representation. A must for GNU Radio users who want to dig into the blocks.

Wireless Communications from the Ground Up: An SDR Perspective by Qasim Chaudhari provides a comprehensive introduction to wireless communications with a focus on Software-Defined Radio (SDR) technology. The book is designed to cater to both students and professionals, explaining the fundamental principles of wireless communication while offering practical insights into the implementation of these concepts using SDR. The text is structured to build foundational knowledge, starting from basic concepts such as modulation, error correction, and channel modeling, and then moving to more advanced topics like SDR hardware, signal processing, and wireless system design. What makes this book stand out is its hands-on approach, with examples and practical exercises that guide readers through the use of SDR for real-world wireless communication applications. Chaudhari does an outstanding good job of balancing theory with practice, presenting complex topics in a clear and understandable manner. The book is highly technical but remains accessible to those with a basic understanding of electrical engineering or communications. For those interested in a deeper dive into the SDR perspective, this book provides a solid foundation with valuable insights on the technology's role in the evolution of modern wireless networks. In summary, Wireless Communications from the Ground Up: An SDR Perspective is a valuable resource for those wanting to explore the integration of SDR in wireless communications, making it a great addition to any technical library focused on communication systems and signal processing.
