Rubie's Dapper Dog Pet Costume, Large

The high school I teach at has an emotional support dog, so I bought this so he could visit as a “dapper dog” during our annual Gatsby party.I bought the largest (XXL), and I was grateful I did. It fit him perfectly! It also stayed on him wonderfully, although he is fairly mellow and patient as a trained support animal. We let him smell it/lay on it for a bit so that he’d be more comfortable having it on him. We used lots of puppy treats as bribes, although once he got to each class the amount of pets he got was reward enough! My school wants to pull this out again at Thanksgiving and use it as a Pilgrim costume.The outfit lost a star because the 1 chain on the back arrived broken, and even though we tried to sew it, it couldn’t be repaired easily. I didn’t have time to exchange it.

I can honestly say that this is the best $11 I have ever spent. I bought this for my stuffed coyote, Santos, who is something of a mascot for my and my husband's band. My husband and I were married about three weeks ago, and Santos was to be in attendance, but alas, he had naught to wear. He usually just wears a rope belt and a sombrero, but we needed him to make a bit of an effort. I found Dapper Dog and knew it was fate. Santos wasn't so sure, but I told him that he would either wear it or stay home. Then he told me to shut the hell up. And I told him he was drunk. Then he told me that there were a lot of things wrong with me too, only he had the decency not to call me names. I told him I was sorry. He said he would try harder. We both cried a little, then made up over some rye whiskey. Well, here we are three weeks later, and he still hasn't taken the tux off. I will say though, the top hat is a little rounder on top than expected; it kind of looks more like an Amish hat. But Santos loves the Amish, so really, I've got no complaints.

It will serve my purpose of making women go "awwwww" at my friend's wedding reception and making my new stag status seem more like an opportunity than a pity. It also comes in discreet packaging so that my dog won't know until it's too late that he alone will be responsible for being moved from his normal spot on my bed to his dog bed on the floor, at least temporarily.As for the reviews lambasting the size chart - they are correct. I chose the largest size for my 60 pound skinny greyhound and his arms barely fit through while putting it on him. Since the breed is lanky, the tux is extremely frumpy on him but I plan to take it to a professional tailor to see what can be done. For suit frumpiness reference, look up any 80's secretary / boss porno.

Mango was the absolute hit of the bridal shower. The costume fit him pretty well, but did need a bit of modification. Just an extra pin here and there. I also needed to re glue the straps on the hat because they broke off, no big deal. The costume is pretty cheap, so I didn’t expect it to be super high quality. It did the job though. He looked adorable.

This item came in plenty of time....and the fit is just like for a human...may need some alteration. I got the large only because dog items typically run small...the Med. would have been too small...Walter is 27 lbs. so It would be very helpful if the seller would put poundage on the order form rather than Sm. Med. Lg. x-lrg. As it was....the Large fit but had to be taken in a bit...Tails too long and shirt a bit too loose. With a sewing machine and some imagination...you can make this work. I also added bling...but all in all, happy with this item.

Bought this for my dog's birthdayparty; it looks so cute on my pupper and actually large enough to fit him.The hat was already squished out of shape and one of the strings was broken when it arrived. I glued it back with hot glue, but then one of the others snapped off too.Also, 2 of the buttons on the chest fell off while he wore it: I'll have to sew those back on.

The gold chain broke as I was taking the costume out of the package. No big deal as it looked pretty tacky anyway. The product served its purpose, but it would not be something he could wear more than once. My dog was in my wedding and he wore this costume for about 1 hour and by the end of it, the velcro had already fallen apart and some of the seams were torn. He is 12 pounds and sat in wagon for most of the wedding so it's not like he was running around or anything like that. Extremely poor quality. In my opinion, over priced for what you get. But, it served its purpose.

My dogs looks great in this. I bought this for my cavalier for when we put my Nan & Grandad's ashes in the grave because I wanted him to be a smart little boy. The only negative point was the chain on the back broke but apart from that he looked the part. It was a very windy day and the hat kept falling off his head.

This was a bit big for my Scottie but that was my fault for not measuring properly. I cut the sleeves out and shortened the back to make it fit him for his puppy class Christmas party.

So cute, although he hates wearing the hat! Bought for his birthday "Pawty" looks so handsome!
