After several swings at tree branches, the blade broke off in the handle. Several cracks are visible in the tang. Obviously a heat treatment problem. Not happy at all!

I’ve looked at this item in the Garrett Wade catalog for a while; then saw it here for a better price and sprang for it. I’m not sorry, although I do wonder how the seller sourced it - the machete I received has the Garret Wade name on the blade.That bit of info on the pedigree aside, this has a very comfortable handle, it’s nicely balanced and the blade is sharp as heck out of the box... almost too sharp and therefore fragile, as after hacking at rough brush (lots of thick blackberry vines Indian plum and the like) and clanging the occasional bit of gravel, it looked pretty beat up around the edges. But the steel is easy to clean up and sharpen on a 400 grit diamond stone, followed by a trip to the 800 grit ceramic honing rod. The leather sheath that comes with the machete is hefty and very useful.I have no idea what the reviewer who calls this a ‘ripoff’ has in mind, but ripoff it isn’t. This is a very nicely made, quality tool at a good price. Whether it ‘fell off a truck’ on the wsy to a Garrett Wade warehouse or not I don’t know..l and I guess I don’t much care. The product itself is great.

That is a Condor Duku, it even had the insignia on the sheath. I smell a rip-off

Looks like a Condor Parang without the makers mark, logo visible in the picture sample.Sure looks like a Condor......I would buy this, price ok.....I have a Condor Parang and it is just like this. I bet this is a good knife, but price not low enuf for me to click and buy it. But very nice.
