Inexpensive fix, but probably not for the mechanically inept.
The components fit perfectly and appear to be made to a similar standard as oem. This is a cheap fix but be warned, if your not mechanically incline, get someone else to disassemble and reassemble as the process is arduous for even the skilled.

Exactly what you need to fix spinning door lock
I have been waiting to review this item. Car lock broke and my husband called me in a panic thinking we would have to bring to dealer and pay for new clicker and have door lock fixed etc. I found out about the cylinder replacement through YouTube and proceeded to purchase this item. The parts arrived as expected. No instructions though so back to YouTube for DIY videos. The parts are so far working great it's just the process of replacing the parts that is difficult. I will definitely buy from this seller in the future. I just hope I won't need to be a repeat customer!

Saved a Huge amount of money fixing it myself!
This replacement part kit worked very very well for my 2002 BMW M3.Save me a ton of money and was only a little bit tricky to put together because of a spring that you had to compress in a very careful way. That said, start to finish was 20 minutes.!!

Poor quality parts that don't fit right...
The assembly of the parts based on the product picture are supposed to go 1) Lower left circle piece; 2) One of the upper left circle pieces; 3) Spring; 4) The big post; 5) The captive retainer piece in the lower right; 6) The tiny stop pin. Part 1 would not fit. There are 3 tabs which are supposed to go in 3 slots. The tabs were to big so I used the old part. Part 2, which is supposed to seat into part 1 was really, really tight in the new version and only slightly less tight in the new version. The spring was way more stiff than the old one, but I managed to get it in place. The post and retainer had no fit issues. Finally, the stop pin was about twice as wide as it should have been. Fortunately, I still had the old one, so I just reused that. When I put the key in to give it a test-spin, it was almost unmovable. I managed to put a couple drops of mineral oil in there to get it moving a little better, but I don't expect this will last long, given the friction in there.UPDATE: I was correct. The mechanism didn't last long. The one I bought in March broke back in June. I finally got around to fixing it with the kit I bought in April (as a backup to keep on the shelf). I never thought I would be possible, but these parts fit even worsr than the last kit. The notches in the bottom piece were too small, so that part wouldn't seat properly. The next piece up (the part that usually breaks) wouldn't fit onto the shaft. I fortunately had a dowel which I wrapped in sandpaper to ream it out. I can't more emphatically advise against getting this version of these parts.

Works good-hope you’re mechanically inclined!
This is a great little kit to fix a common problem with the E-46. Everything fit well except the spring. I ended up using my old spring. Theirs was too stiff.I have had 35 year experience restoring old sports cars and motorcycles and feel I am pretty good at it. What I thought would be an easy half hour fix took me 1 hour to finish. I had a lot of trouble winding the spring back and ended up using my old spring that was shorter. This kit comes with no directions but there are some good u-tube videos that really help, the first will tell you how to remove the lock from the car, just type in the words “remove e-46 door lock” the second will help you with taking the lock apart. Just type in “E46 E90 Door Lock Repair Kit DIY Tutorial”Also remember the door will not lock when it is open! I would have saved 10 minutes if I had remembered this.I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of no directions, and a spring that is too long.

Great option that the dealer willNever tell you about.
I found out about this after paying 230$ non refundable to BMW and having to wait 5 weeks for it to ship from Germany!

Good price, quick delivery, no instructions, one part broken
Thankfully the lock assembly I was rebuilding only needed a few of the parts replaced, and the delivered one that was broken had the original from my lock still in working order. But if it hadn't that would have really complicated my lock rebuild job, waiting for a replacement rebuild kit to arrive. Also, no instructions, so expect to Google and YouTube for the answer. In the end I was over thinking it. Everything except the spring is straight forward. Still not sure if I tensioned the spring properly on the rebuild.

Good Customer Service
RegulatorFix stands by their product. I ordered one and received it within a week, and installed it in my 2003 325i with the help of a few youtube videos. I immediately noticed that the lock cylinder was tough to turn, but it worked. A few weeks later, the lock failed. I emailed RegulatorFix, and they sent out a whole new kit, free of charge. I installed it and it works flawlessly. Kudos RegulatorFix!
