Vertical Hold
I thought that I had already given a review. I called the Dealer that was on the contact Info.. Anyway, This is a Great Little Magnetic Base, it works very well on my Full Jeweled "Federal" Indicators that was left to me by my Grandfather. And Yes, I"m pretty picky about my equipment. I suggested, if it hasn't already been Patented, that by putting "A FEW SMALL WELL PLACED RUBBER GRIPS" on the contact points it will hold BETTER WHEN PLACED VERTICALLY!!!!!!!!!!! If you own a Magnetic Base like this one or any other Type/Brand,I have a "Simple Test" you can do from where your at ---------- Get your Magnetic Base and a THIN RUBBER BAND,cut a small piece of the band, about the size of a Hole Punch hole used on Paper or a little less. Place it on one side of the magnetic surface and place any type of flat metal across Both Sides. I used a plan metal dinner knife but you really want to use a piece of metal with EQUAL WEIGHT on both sides. Put a small amount of finger pressure in the of center of the object you are using. The side that does not have the rubber will "slide" before the side that has the rubber. "Put the rubber pieces on both sides of the BASE and it will hold the base Better than not using this Type/Kind of "Grip Surface". Try this on any vertical metal surface. The Trick is to use right type of gripping surface and the right thickness between the magnet and the metal surface. ---------------- Try it and see for your self!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. If this Idea is not already Patented and someone Patents It Give Me A Percent of the Income. As Jeff Foxworthy says ------------- I'm just an Old Coal Miner "RED NECK" with a Few Little Red Neck Tricks. I would run a Patient Search but I do not have the Money. My Wife Is On Two Different CHEMO Med's. When I woke up this morning I Thought of another Product That I think isn't Patented. If this is getting Someones attention you can contact me. I don't know if Amazon.com knows that I called Customer Service and my Feedback was to put the "PRIME Marker" on the screen that the Item/Product was on instead of at the Check Out Screen. But Amazon can send me a Reply.Thank YouPaul King @ [email protected]

yeyyy thingy
revues on this were mixed, but the only real complaint seemed to be the crappy screws, which I decided that if they don't tighten enough I can go buy some and ace. Anyhow, no complaints from me. the magnet is well over 100lb of force which is good enough. I can't even budge it, which is how I know it is very strong as i can easily curl 100lbs my self. screws seem to tighten with a little effort and will use it from time to time to hold my micrometer to check things with. If you are a professional then these would suffice as back ups since they do work and r quite cheap, but if you need easier to use tools that are more precise then well you'll have to buy from a professional catalog. but is works for all intended purposes.

Industry standard solution. No need to over pay. Wish the arms were longer.
While I haven't tried other brands I assume they work basically the same way. The magnetic base works just fie and as expected. I do find adjustments to be tricky, but again, I think they're all basically the same thing so it is what it is. I'd like a bit more flexibility, such as with longer arms. I had a really difficult time figuring out how to measure run-out on my lathe spindle due to the lack of reach.

Bargain Mag-Base
Definitely functional in all ways i have needed a mag base to work. The only negative thing I have to say about this is the magnet toggle switch is a sticker. I have big bubbles in it, as if it was previously folded for days then applied to a flat surface. Other than that, it comes plastic wrapped in a blue box that says "magnetic base" and looks exactly as it is photographed. I could care less about a sticker, I just believe in receiving what it is (I think) I'm buying.

Made out of Chinesium.
Made out of Chinesium. Everything about this product says "turd sandwich." It'll work for my needs. The magnet is strong enough to hold it still for what I'm using it for. All of the movements and articulations possible are shaky at best though due to plastic knobs lower in quality than milk jug lids. The thing smelled of chemicals in the box and was covered in oil. It's just annoying that there's no middle ground between professional tools that look just like this and utter junk you'd buy from a flea market straight from China.

Its a little hard to figure out how to use ...
Its a little hard to figure out how to use properly but I think I figured it out. Still not sure what the post+screw thingy in the end piece is for but whatever.

Okay for what it is...works fine.
Needed one (hadn't had one for several years). And tried this "cheepie". Works fine for what it is...arms a little short for larger work...and a big old " made in China" right on the front....embarrassing. But couldn't afford $100.00 for a nicer one.
