Guitar Pedals – Mastering Guitar Effects: Discover How To Use Pedals and Chain Effects To Get The Ultimate Guitar Tone (Guitar pedals and effects)

Wonderful for the right readers
I think the reason for the wide variation of reviews is the wide variation of the reader’s current understanding of using pedals. This book is very obviously written for beginning pedal users and gives a fantastic overview along with audio files demonstrating the tonal effects of different types of pedals. It is not written for intermediate or advanced pedal users.

These books are the best gateway to musical mastery and success for musicians!
Once I received my book, I was truly excited to get into it right away. All the information that is provided, covered many of the questions I had about signal path, finding your specific tone that best suits your playing style, as well as other information I simply wasn't aware of, even with being a seasoned musician, so to speak. These books truly bring the fundamentals of each topic they cover, to an easy to understand learning experience! My first book had tons of information, and delving right in was as exciting as I thought it would be!!

A different perspective and hope it helps.
So, I own many of the fundamental changes books and they really have helped me excel at playing the blues and guitar in general. I picked this book up after reading many poor review and figure I would return it, if it truly wasn't that good. The book is good, it provides about 4 examples in the back of the book to chain effects, but it also provides a lot of history and reasoning and meanings and how to use different types of pedals. Some may be turned off by that, but I think it is great that all of that is in one book and I don't have to go to countless website surfing away time looking for understandings and tone effect understandings. Now the author did not intent to give you one direct way to use pedals and early in the book it does state to try different pedals in different places to create unique sounds. In general there is no right way to use a pedal. I've seen people use a compressor after distortion, or even a reverb before distortion to get totally different tones. So why 4 stars instead of 5? The author should have kept the book simple by using general pedal box names like chorus, reverb, echo, etc. rather then using name brands which don't provide much clue to what that pedal is and some are no longer available. That also leads you to go online looking for what that specific pedal is and what is does and what makes it so unique, distracting you from the fundamentals of the book, which is why you bought the book. Another reason for the 4 stars is that there are quite a few typos in the book, an editor or at least a proof reader should have been used.

First Tone Book With Tabs and Music!
I have around 100 guitar pedals and almost as many books on achieving "that tone." Although other books may have had example sounds, this is the first that actually had tabs/music and actually talked theory (both music and physics). It's a pretty good read, the tracks are high quality, and the riffs are awesomely "attainable" (as in you do not need to be a superhero, but some practice is needed). Very good comparison of styles and what works well with each type of pedals. Thanks!

Ok, but online stuff is probably better
Like this series of books. What I was looking for was advice on physical setup of pedal board and how to organize pedals along your signal path. This book was ok with these things, but I’ve actually found what I was looking for online and on YouTube.

Great resource!
I am a novice with guitar effects. I have the Fender GT 40 Modeling Amplifier, and wanted a better understanding of how to get the best sound by chaining different amps and effects. This book gives great explanations for each class of effects, and the downloadable content lets hear a clear example. I haven't used the music/TAB that accompanies each audio example yet, but plan to practice a lot of them. Highly recommend.

Very little pertinent content
Unfortunately, I ignored the negative reviews (they did not provide enough explanation). I thought, perhaps this book is too technical for the average consumer. I was wrong. Frankly, you can learn more about signal chain/routing, electronics processing, tone-shaping, and insights on how famous guitarists achieved their signature tones from other sources (e.g., online reviews from Reverb, Sweetwater, Guitar.com). Consider taking the "Ultimate Guitar Tone School" master class from proaudioexp.com (money much-better spent). Regardless, don't buy this book - it is a waste of your money and, even if you don't know anything about effects boxes, you'll glean the pertinent content out of this book in less than 20 minutes. Now, considering the current toilet paper crisis . . .

Nice little overview for the novice
Bought this as a bundle with the book about loopers. It is a nice and good overview about how to use guitar pedals. For the price this is totally ok. But nothing very special.

Decisamente consigliato

No contiene información valiosa.
No contiene lo que describe, se encuentra mejor información gratis en internet sobre pedales y como conectarlos en un rig.It doesn’t contain what is described, better information can be get it free from internet about stomp boxes and how to connect them in a rig.

Very useful!
I brought this after buying a helix Lt, I always found buying pedal boards and the order of effects complicated. This book has been so useful, providing a great platform to setup basic boards, while giving you the info and knowledge to expand and create your tones with confidence.

Dont buy this
Disappointing, content poor, book quality poor, its like a high school student thesis the way its written. Useless for learners and experienced players alike IMHO.
