Movo MB1000CH Replacement Camera Hubs, Mounts for the MB1000, MB700 and MB200 Camera Carrying Vest (2 Pack)

I got these hubs to serve as substitutes for the more expensive Cotton Carrier hubs that I use with my Cotton Carrier photo vest. I use these for cameras I do not use as frequently as those already equipped with CC hubs. These are solidly made and they function very well for my purposes. Prospective buyers should know that they are not angled and that they don't lock into a position requiring a 90 degree turn of the camera to remove it from the vest. In other words, when using a Movo hub you can pull straight upwards on the camera to remove it from the vest, or conversely, just pull down on the camera to attach it. This makes for a less secure attachment, but for my purposes this is not all that important. If one were climbing or running or otherwise performing athletic feats while carrying a camera on the vest this less secure attachment might be a significant issue. But I pretty much just attach, walk, and detach, that this cheaper hub works fine for me. Still, I am glad to have the more expensive, standard Cotton Carrier hubs for my most-used cameras.

I would have voted a 5 stars if the rubber pad had the right thickness, but they do not. You will have to create and your own pad to correct the problem. The slot at the bottom of the metal hub needs to aligned parallel to the camera in order to make the locking mechanism to work on the Movo MB1000 vest. For my Canon 5D mark ii and 1Dx, they were both in wrong position (one is 90 the other is 45 degree off the mark) when it is tighten. I cut a piece of thin and flat (1/2-1/4 of thickness of credit card) plastic from some package material, punched a small hole, put it next to the metal hub, cut the plastic into circular shape with the same size of the hub, and put on the rubber pad. I had to experiment with plastic of different thickness to get the hubs into the right position on camera. I would suggest that the manufacturer should supply a few extra rubber or plastic pad with thickness range from maybe 0.2-1.0mm, so user can choose one of them to align the hub to the correct position when mounted on the specific camera.So if you are willing to do some pad making job yourself like I did, these hubs may work for you.perfectly. Otherwise wait for MOVO to resolve this problem before you purchase. You would NOT want to risk your expensive camera flying off the vest because it was NOT able to be locked into correct position :(unless you could sue MOVO for the damage resulted from the failed device).

Since I purchased the chest harness system vest, I'd been looking for an extra set of these hubs to no avail so I decided to fabricate one of my own. Worked okay but really wanted the original. Being that the vests are made in China and they are sold under several different brand names, I figured my chances of finding these were nil. Then I found the Movo hubs by accident. Even though my vest is a different brand, the hubs are identical so I purchased them and they are exactly the same heavy duty steel hubs and work great on my spare camera. So now I can use the extra holster that came with the vest either with the vest or separately on my belt. I only needed one but now I have a spare. Thank you Movo for providing these!

I purchased these to replace the studs that came with the Movo Photo MB1000 harness. While there is nothing wrong with the studs that come with the MB1000 with light equipment, the plastic studs did not do well with my heavy equipment. These metal studs are great.Now having said that, there is one caveat that I need to mention. To get these studs truly tight you will need to use a pair of pliers. I imagine over time this would mar the finish on the studs. In my case, I permanently attached the studs to a quick release system.

These don't seem so upgraded or so made of steel, probably because they're neither.I ordered the UPGRADED STEEL CAMERA HUBS/MOUNTS, but received plastic ones instead. Now I have to go through the hassle of returning these things, ordering again and hope that the second time I get the right ones. Not to mention waiting for an item I needed for tomorrow. This is very inconvenient.

Much sturdier option over the included plastic mounts. Some people say that they are difficult to position easily into the vest slot, but they were easy to me. The included plastic mounts seem to be made of the same materials that that the slot is made from, so plastic being plastic - probably no real advantage going with the upgraded parts. However, there's something about metal that beings peace of mind, and the cost is reasonable, so I would do it all over again given the choice.

To be fair, I purchased this hoping it would be fully compatible with a Cotton Carrier system, admittedly not what it was made for. Some other reviews said that it was compatible, so I gave it a shot. I didn't see this mentioned in any other reviews, but in case it matters to you, it is not the same as the Cotton Carrier hubs. The biggest difference is that it isn't flattened on the sides so that it doesn't lock in the way a Cotton Carrier hub does. In other words, your camera can lift straight up and out of the holster without rotating it 90 degrees like you have to with the Cotton Carrier. Also, these hubs are thicker, so they don't fit as nicely into the CC holsters, and I can see how they would start to cut grooves into the plastic holster, it's a tight fit. Also, the hub is narrow enough in diameter to allow quite a bit of play, I'm concerned that it could easily break the Cotton Carrier groove that it slides into. It may be great with the Movo system it's designed for, but be advised it isn't a perfect replacement for a Cotton Carrier hub.
