A quality match to Apple hardware
This is a premium product so is understandably significantly more expensive than plastic alternatives, but it is well worth it when installing a high capacity drive.Mine contains a 4Tb SSD and works really smoothly. The cable is very high quality having metal connectors. My old Mac doesn't have USB-C ports but I bought this enclosure with future-proofing in mind. In order to use it in the short-term I bought the following superb little adaptors:[10Gbps] USB C Female to USB Male Adapter (2-Pack), 3.1 USB A to USB C Adapter, XAOSUN One-Sided SuperSpeed Data Sync & 100W Fast Charging For iphone

You don't have to have an Apple device
Typical design for a MacBook Pro but can be used anywhere. Good quality and stylish.

Good quality
This is a really high quality enclosure and works well with my 2TB Crucial SSD. You will have difficulty separating the two halves without scratching the aluminium - the tolerances are very tight. I managed fine - you just need to be methodical and calm! Use brute force and you will damage the aluminium casing. Would recommend if you want a good looking product. Looks great as a peripheral of a Mac computer.

Great Quality and looks good
Nice solid, clean, all aluminium drive enclosure. No tacky logos, just some small print on the back. Came with mini screwdriver, extra screws, foam pad and some small rubber feet to cover the screws plus what feels to be a nice quality USB-C cable. No issues with removing the cover and easy to slot on my Samsung 2.5” SSD. Quick speed test gave 500+ MB/s Read / Write speeds, at the limit of the drive. Perfect for my needs. Might have a look at a nice IcyBox M.2 USB enclosure now or a 3.5” drive bay to make use of some old drives I have. Would recommend based on initial setup and tests.

Not only it does not work, but I lost all my data on the SSD
I ordered this rather pricey and premium looking disk enclosure to replace my old enclosure that was three times cheaper and did not look good, but it was working perfectly fine for more than a year. When I installed my old SSD into this new enclosure, it was identified correctly, but when I ran Black Magic Disk Speed test it showed me a write error. Then the old SSD was damaged beyond repair, I had to install it in the old enclosure and erase. See screenshots. My SSD works perfectly well in the old enclosure, but I lost all my data.I ordered a replacement and the second one had exactly the same problem as the first one. They did not even bother to check if it works. To summarize this is a good looking piece of aluminum, it looks just as good as MacBook's body. Unfortunately the electronics inside does not work. BTW, my old enclosure is rather ugly looking Gembird, identified as JMicron Generic Media, but at least it does what it supposed to do.DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM!

Excellent quality product
Built 100% out of aluminium which is good for heat transmission (the ones that are plastic inside and aluminium on the outside are way inferior), I get USB 3 speeds too (tried both with mechanical and SSD drives). It feels solid like an aluminium brick and comes with two cables. Excellent product

Beautiful yet flawed
A very beautiful and with the product made in aluminium - makes it exceptionally premium and luxurious. With that comes a difficult installation method. If you are a person who is going to be frequently taking out your ssd. I do not recommend this case for you.It is difficult to open, with the screwable lid, having no lift mechanic to open it - instead you rely on crude methods of whacking it on your hand and hopes it gets open. When it’s inside the enclosure, it is quite spacious (if you’re using ssd). Which is quite frustrating as I have had a few occasions where it has come loose inside, and getting it open is a puzzle in itselfAll in all, the looks, the design, the material is there. The functionality of the device isn’t, im afraid

Mac Mini Partner
This is a quality product. I don't even understand why some people have given it low scores in here. The is an aluminium body and cover plate. All is pure aluminium. To my eyes this means quality. It's a little heavier than a plastic enclosure, but even the Mac Mini is heavier than plastic small pc's. Quality comes to a weight cost in this case. The colour is not the same as the Mac Mini space grey, nor the old Mac Mini grey aluminium. I would say it's something in between and also has a blue-ish tint in its colour. I really lie it and I matches my space grey Mac Mini set up.The small LED blue light is there to show the drive's activity and is off when the drive sleeps. You would have to install your 2.5'' SSD/HDD and then screw the bottom cover plate with the provided screw and screwdriver. Everything is there for you. It only took me 2 mins to install the SSD and plug it to the USB C port. What else you want!I will definitely buy this for my next external SSD.

It's fine.
There's nothing wrong with this. It works fine. It's just kinda half-assed in every way possible. The corners are sharp enough to file your nails with. The screws are tiny, and not captive. The USB port doesn't inspire confidence in its durability. There's no strain relief. But because it's aluminum, the heat sinking doesn't suck, and it works. It's just like… that the engineering team was seriously lazy, and nobody cared to make this even slightly nice.
