Tenor Banjolele/Banjo Ukulele: Mahogany Closed Back Banjo Uke by Malani with Gig Bag

Other reviews led me to believe this banjolele was going to be a little jewel - it proved to be considerably different.I am an experienced ukulele player with many instruments one of which a banjolele costing less than £50. I have adopted a new style of playing with it and I was looking for a better quality instrument to perform publicly with.This item arrived strung but not tuned - I quickly positioned the bridge correctly and worked hard getting thes strings up to pitch. This achieved I was not impressed by the sound - quite dull compared to my other and there seemed a strange vibration on the A string. I attribute this to the tailpiece not being wide enough so that the G and A strings come over the side of the metal plate rather than the front.Very soon after playing it the A string suddenly broke. When I looked to replace it I noticed that all the strings had been incorrectly fitted. Each string should first go through a small bead before going through the tailplate. None of the strings had these beads fitted - instead crude knots had been tied to secure the ends. This puts the string in contact with metal edge of the hole which will lead to it being cut through. I do not know how a repuable music dealer could send out an instrument in such condition.I have returned the unit at my expense - postage costing nearly £6 - that has not been refunded. I left a fully descriptive note in the return package with my contact details - I have not been contacted as a result.The whole appearance and sound of the £50 banjolele is far superior to this one.

This Banjolele from Dangleberry Music is a superb introduction for any ukulele player wanting the banjo sound. The banjolele ouzo’s quality for the price. The sound is loud and very clean. The back can be removed if it’s too loud which is an option I do like. It comes with a setup guide which is very helpful for first time banjolele uses who need to setup the bridge, which is easy after following the instructions. I had a slight problem when I broke a string whilst setting up the Banjolele, I contacted Dangleberry Music via e-mail just to let them know. Two days later I received replacement strings. Customer service second to non. I forgot to say the gig bag that comes with it is fantastic. Love it..

Disliked... The delivery company kicking around my package as if it was nothing. The box was absolutely battered.Likes...Dangleberry music... Absolute 5 star service., mentioned the package problem and they went through it with me to see if the banjolele was OK. The next music item I buy will be direct from these guys. Superb.Product.. Fun fun fun, had a problem with setting it up out the box, but as I was already in email with Dangleberry it was not an issue.This banjolele sound perfect to my beginners ears and I've friends who play guitar for numourous years comment on how smooth and fun it is to play and the Acton (no idea what this means) is really good.5 stars product.5 stars service from Dangleberry.0 stars Hermes.

Hi Folks Just a short review on this banjolele that I received a week or so ago. Glad to report its a well made instrument and that it looks well and plays well too. Its fine for laying back on the sofa and work on new songs or even practise them. If you are thinking about purchasing this item, on what I received I can totally recommend it. The banjolele looks fine but, for the the first time player there were no instructions sent and the strings had no identification that I could see. There was no indication how much the strings would stretch. Added to this was the base string holder. There were no instructions as to watching the string holder, which meant the whole thing bent as there was no spanner provided to offset the bending caused by the strings.

I live in New Zealand, and even with $60NZ frieght it was still a very good buy. Saved more than $100 dollars on something similar here. Well packaged for the long journey. Its a well finished uke, and looks good. Had some minor issues with the knotted strings pulling thru the tail piece holes, but Scott from Dangleberry Music was in touch promptly with advice, and have posted to NZ a set of strings and some string beads . Overall a very good uke. Very good service from the seller. Highly recomend them! Cheers Ken

A lovely instrument, initial problems with strings snapping but that was soon overcome by the suppliers giving me four small beads to thread on the string before knotting it and applying the tension. Great sounding instrument I highly recommend it.

Arrived on time, great build quality, real traditional banjo sound.Terrific fun to play.
