WEN 4276 2.1-Amp 6-Inch Bench Grinder with Flexible Work Light

Great grinder for knives and garden shears. But if you have serious grinding to do on heavy gauge material this is not the grinder for you. It serves my purposes ok but really loses rpms when you lay into anything. Having said that, I don’t do much “heavy grinding”. This guy is great for keeping garden tools clean and sharp. Also great for cleaning up putty knife’s or scrapers from dried in epoxy or whatever. I have used this for almost two years and it works greats. Nice built in light for that close up work. I am impressed after two years it does what I need it to do. Great price and delivery as always from Amazon!

If you buy tools like I do, where you buy them with the intention to use your tools every now and then and not everyday and don't want to pay an arm and a leg for tools, than this is a pretty good grinder. It works well right out of the box and does the job it is supposed to do, grind stuff. The light attachment is also a pretty nice little add-on but if you do not have a vibration resistant stand for this to go on, the light will vibrate away from where you set it. The size of this grinder will not take over your workbench and it has an acceptable noise level though I would advise wearing proper protective equipment including hearing protection as well as an apron.....ah see you did not think of that. An apron is a weird but useful piece of ppe that has recently gone dark. An apron will protect you from flying metal shavings and you won't know you need it till it is too late.

So purchased this to help keep my riding mower's three blades sharp. I purchased this with the WEN 4288 Cast Iron Bench Grinder Pedestal Stand with Water Pot and finally got around to unpacking them and putting it together today. Well, assembly was very easy, the stand took about 3 minutes (it's 4 set screws and one Philips screw) and it includes the hardware to mount the grinder as well. The grinder took a little bit longer to assemble, however it was pretty easy. Put the two safety guards on, the tool rests and the spark guard. That with mounting it on the stand took about ten minutes. The switch was in the "on" position after unpacking (the switch has a little dot on one side and that side depressed is on) so after plugging it in (on), that was a disappointment but not a concern. It powered up to full speed in about 5-6 seconds, and ran fairly smooth for about 3 min under no load before I turned it off. The light that is mounted on it is a great feature and one feature that I really like. On to the task at hand - sharpening the mower blades. Well, it worked. Worked much better than the pneumatic die grinder and file I had been using. However it was a under powered when more than gentle pressure was applied, and would bog down very quickly once the mower blade would towards the end and not rest on the tool rest fully supported. The amount of power is the reason for the single star docking, I wish it had more. That being said - for what I paid for it, the stand and the ease of use, it's still a solid little worker for the likely 4-5 times a year that I'll be using this thing. Would I recommend it - sure for my use mentioned above, would I buy it again if this one fails, no. I'd buy something with more power. I got my bench grinder a few days ago but have already logged quite a few hours into it given the current quarantine situation. I am a hobbyist of sorts and hand make all my pieces, work primarily with metal, and make various kinds of EDC multi tools and blades. Despite having various pieces of machinery that "could" get the job done (I currently have the Wen Belt & Disc Grinder, a 14" Drill Press, the Work Sharp Ken Onion Edition Knife and Tool Sharpener/Grinder, and the Dremel 4000 with all the attachments available), with out this new Bench Grinder it took much longer and was much more difficult when doing any job especially when trying to be as precise. It makes aggressive removal of material (any metals so far) a breeze , and on the opposite side of the spectrum it handles any buffing and the softest of your heavy duty polishing needs with ease. A must have tool in your arsenal!. Incredible value as it is very affordable and comes with the 36 and 60 grit wheel. I have multiple Pieces of machinery by Wen and have not been disappointed yet. Well made, solid pieces of machinery.

Okay after reading some of the reviews I was a little skeptical. Now with that being said this thing is great no issues does what I want it to do. I e seen some comments that it’s not strong enough?? I don’t know what the heck your grinding but this will take on a lot of jobs for me here on the farm. Very quiet Very smooth I didn’t even have to mount it down it’s so smooth. Has nice rubbe pads underneath. In all reality this grinder will work for a lot of things. Lawnmower blades ? Ya it’s big enough unit. I bought a wire brush I’m gonna take off the course wheel and put that on. The fine stone wheel is good enough for what I’m doing here on the farm. Other than that it’s a great product.

Takes a little assembly and adjusting but once you get everything done it works surprisingly really well especially for the price. It was packaged very well not damaged at all. My main purpose for this is to sharpen yard tools so far it has worked great on everything I have tried it on it is very quick and safe to use. No it is not heavy duty for like a welder or somebody who is doing metal work for a living. If you press on it with a lot of force the wheel will slow down. But for how much money that I paid for it I’m not complaining I would definitely recommend. I have been able to sharpen every lawnmower blade extremely quick and get it very sharp. The stones that came with it are really good.

After debating for a long time on what Bench Grinder I should get : I decided to buy the WEN 6” due too the reviews/ price and rpm - I mounted it to a board that gets Clamped to my workbench .It took me about 10 min to assemble it with the Saftey guards then I went ahead and bolted it to the 1x6 I had - I put the grinder on and marked inside the holes with the tip of White Out brush with a 3/8 drill bit I drilled them out — it was a pain in the ass to get the bolt in at first but then I just dropped them in held the top With a wrench BOLT & WASHER on top and WASHER &LOCK NUT ON BOTTOM ( instead of using LOCK TIGHT I bought the bolts at Home Depot already with there own locktight system in place / I clamped it down after changing the right wheel to a wire Brush ( if you do this any wheel you buy comes with a plastic spacer to ensure fit but I went One step further and bought the REDUCING BUSHING ADAPTERS FROM AMAZON SO THAT ANY WHEEL I DECIDE TO PUT ON IM PREPARED JUST IN CASE IT DOESNT FIT PERFECT- I gave it 4.8 stars because the light on the top works 98% of the time the other 2% it flicks on and off but all in all I am very happy with MY PURCHASE it fits my needs and was in a reasonable budget/ I could of spent $500 on a bench grinder but at the end of the day almost all of them have the same RPM’s / and the extra money would have gotten me a stronger grinding stand made out of steel and maybe a vacuum that sucks the dust up - So ALL AND ALL IT WAS THE PERFECT PURCHASE ‼️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.9

Awesome little 6 inch grinder, only used it a few times so far but i got no complaints. The little light is nice and handy. I got it for around $70 if memory serves me right. Easy to assembly as well. Great buy.
