Perfect Beachcombing companion
Excellent book - very comprehensive and is considered THE reference for anyone wanting to really discover the copious life inhabiting the inter-tidal zones off the Oregon Coast. It's one of three references I carry with me as I docent for the Haystack Rock Awareness Program: the others are a tide chart and a brochure for sea birds. I've never failed to find a match for what I'm trying to identify. Written for the layman and very accessible and sized right to carry to the beach. The only improvement would be water-proofing!

Easy to understand. Color coded pages make it easy to look up things.

This is exactly what I had in mind for vacation--
I will soon be visiting the Pacific NW on vacation and am an avid nature lover and beach comber. This is exactly the kind of book I was looking for. I've already looked through it several times and think its already giving me a good overview of what I might see along the shoreline and in tidal pools. It has nice color photos with small descriptors. This will get me started! If I end up needing more information, chances are I will find something more specific to a given area there.

Love this book!
The size is perfect to stick in a larger purse or bag/satchel and take with you TO THE SEASHORE! Which is why I bought this one, while on a field trip to the pacific northwest and the coast!Good book! It could have more variety (more species) but I guess it does say "beachcombers" and if you're only on the beach, you'll see what's in the book, at the beach lol

the best tide pool guide
An excellent guide to the diversity found in tidepools. I love this book, and it is a great resource for teachers and families who enjoy searching for nature on the beach. It is well organized and features many rich photos. The only thing that could make it better is if the whole book was waterproof! Slip it into your day pack for your next beach trip. Just try not to fall in.

Very useful
I found this quite useful while my granddaughter was here for a week in July. She's 9 and together we learned the names and basic information of those things along the shore that I see a lot while kayaking or walking and wading. Embarrassingly, I came to realize I'd been calling quite a few by incorrect labels.

Beachcomber
This is an awesome book. I got it for my Marine Ecology class and Im gonna keep it! It is full of great pictures and detailed information. It is great to have while studying about intertidal organisms. Hard to actually have in the field though, especially when its raining. This book would be perfect if it was waterproof.
