I got this to make my baofeng smaller. I use it as a scanner (we only have two frequencies that everything is on here) and I wanted a more compact antenna. This receives just as strong as it did with the stock antenna. For transmitting, Im betting the range suffers with it, but It still cover the area I want it to cover. I havent tested it for long range, but It will go 100 feet through 5 concrete walls with sheet metal on both sides and still show up on the other radio as full power. Probably not that impressive, but thats as far as I need to go on a regular basis, someday I may try a range test and see what I get.

Nice little antenna for hotspot use and local UHF repeaters. Not very good for distant VHF. Gets a little warm on higher power levels from the HT. You can also hear the element bouncing around in the plastic case (twang!) if you tap it just right.
